Animalcast 81- Actual Play of Instant Game

I love actual play . . . It turns out, I don't really like 'lone wolf' actual play. Also, you forgot to roll any dice or use any game mechanics during the 'game'. I downloaded and read through 'Instant Game' before listening to the podcast, and it looks really cool; I hope I ever get a chance...

    Magic Item Sets

I have considered this, and I think it's an awesome idea, but the trouble I had is: where/how do the PCs find these different set items? Are they 'world drops'? Then you'd need an explanation for how they got there. Do the PCs craft the items? Then what's the point if they can essentially...

Kenku, Merrow, Sahuagin, Thri-Kreen, and Trow!

When describing how many hands it takes to hold stuff, etc., make sure to explain that it's using a two-arms point of view, and that having four arms isn't 'stacking' with the ability to hold more stuff. That could be confusing. For example: "So, I have four arms, and I can hold a double weapon...

Kenku, Merrow, Sahuagin, Thri-Kreen, and Trow!

If you're feeling cramped for space when writing that ability, consider something like: Four Arms: As a Thri-Kreen, you have four arms as opposed to the usual two. See the 'Having Four Arms' sidebar for more information. Having Four Arms [sidebar]: Now you have as much space as you need to...

Pathfinder 1E [April fools joke] Boo WotC! Wizards to sue Paizo for TM Infringement!

I was laughing before I even realized the possibility of it being a joke. I'm not sure what that means. ~

Need a real basic Mass Combat system.

I prefer to call them 'One Bad Egg', as I went to Ormond Beach Elementary school. ~

Need a real basic Mass Combat system.

I haven't read it myself, but it sounds like you could use Hard Boiled Armies from One Bad Egg. It allows characters who ledad troops to allow their 'squads' or whatever to use mass-versions of the character's powers. A troupe led by a rogue would be sneaky, etc. At least that's the impression...

    New PHB3 Class

That's power creep for you . . . after all, you get to throw two of them at 21st level. Keep in mind that's all of the Witchalok Blades in existence! You can throw all Witchalok Blades in existence with just one power! Also, if you're going to argue that it's balanced because you can't do...

Planeswanderers (Magic multiverse setting; updated May 17)

Author's Note: So, I've never written anything like this before, or even kept a campaign journal . . . but I've regretted it. Here's me trying to rectify that. I'm starting several weeks behind, but our sessions are short, so it should be easy to catch up. The players are starting out at level...

    New PHB3 Class

This was hilarious. I'm impressed. I enjoyed the Fool's Grove delve as well (especially the flail snail!), but the Witchalok had me nearly gasping for breath. I only wish it were somehow usable. ~ EDIT: Hm . . . maybe I can multiclass into Witchalok . . . or dual class . . .

    Arcane Power excerpt: Cosmic Magic

I loved the cosmic source fluff concept :) I think it's really cool. I got an impression of orderliness from reading it, and don't remember noticing anything about chaos. It all seemed very serene and controlled. Very cool, IMO. ~ fissionessence

    Solving all minion issues (long)

Very interesting and thought-provoking write-up, which seems pretty thorough. I'll keep it in mind in case minions ever become a problem in my games. ~

PDF preview for Scarrport: City of Secrets

I like the new healthy blow; I'm not sure it should be a basic attack, but it's much better than the previous version. As for the race having the option of changing its stats . . . I think this is a good idea. It will rub some people the wrong way, but I think it's a good step toward solving...

    Editorial Calendar for April

Well, Arcane Power comes out the day after the familiars article, so my guess was just that it would be an article full of options and accessories for the familiars that would be introduced in Arcane Power. ~

PDF preview for Scarrport: City of Secrets

Very cool big preview. The elementalist looks neat. I see that you're using Gods of the Shroud; that's pretty exciting, too. I'm interested to watch how all that pans out. I for one am not really into those gods, mainly for the reason that they all have titles instead of actual names, but oh...

Dice bags - a few questions

I used to have a Crown Royal bag . . . but then I lost it [with all the dice in it] :( Now I use some kind of mini metal tool box sort of thing that used to contain a pocket knife and a couple components. I tore out the foam interior so that the box is completely empty (except for my dice and...

    Moving while blind.

"You can hear fighting coming from two to four squares to the north-north-east. You can't hear anything behind you." "Can I make a Perception check to find out how many squares to the north-north-east the fighting is?" <<rolls>> . . . Anyway, this seems interesting. Potentially...

    Arcane Power excerpt: Cosmic Magic

I was personally expecting the additional builds to be Constitution- and Intelligence-based. When I saw the title 'cosmic magic', I expected it to be Intelligence. Strength doesn't make sense to me here, and I think too many classes use Strength already. Plus, didn't dragonborn sorcerers have...
