    RPGs ?!?

Well, only through the use of Fate/Hero points. Our archers were shredded when they tried to sneak around and explore. And when our thief type explored in the city with the zombie factory, she was also quickly discovered and zombie-swarmed. It seemed monumentally unsafe to be out and about, away...

A "not so super" superhero game

I have an idea for a game that I would love to run. It may or may not appeal to anyone. It would be set in the modern world. A world very similar to the one we live in. Superheroes do not exist outside of comic books, movies and TV shows. People have no powers and no one dresses in spandex to...

    RPGs ?!?

For me, I really felt like I dominated the Conan game with Yuri. I became concerned that I was hogging the spotlight, because I know that I have the tendency toward that (you should see me at even staff meetings at work. I am a pain in the ass, I am sure.) So I consciously decided to dial Thorm...

    RPGs ?!?

I enjoy getting into character. I enjoy role-playing and trying to see things through a character's eyes, especially if that character is nothing like me. But in the end, the game is not a voyage of internal discovery for me. It may be a fun, immersive game, but I don't come into it with the...

    RPGs ?!?

I really enjoyed playing a self-serving a-hole. It seemed like such a natural fit :) Before I played in Vince's Conan game, I had spent my gaming time almost exclusively as a GM. Yuri and Thorm were my longest running characters in 20 years or so. It may or may not have been coincidental that...

    RPGs ?!?

And I think you may be misunderstanding me. "Beneath you" was a poor phrasing. Maybe "have moved beyond..." would have been clearer. And while I am simultaneously happy for you that you are finding things you enjoy or are more fulfilling than RPGs, and sad that you don't plan to come back to...

    RPGs ?!?

Yeah, I wasn't keen on the system either. It is just really, really hard to get people together to play when we all have real lives. Really, there are only a few in our group that don't have kids and families to schedule around -- And Chris is sort of married to his job :) Plus, two of our...

    RPGs ?!?

I have found that playing with my 10-year-old has been a lot of fun. He is a very imaginative guy and a voracious reader. Setting his imagination loose in an RPG has been a lot of fun and really helped keep my enthusiasm up. When the game is scary, he actually gets scared and really gets pumped...

    RPGs ?!?

You young whippersnappers and yer newfangled "non rpg games." I remember back in the day when we had different rules for each kind of rpg. And none of 'em used the same kind of dice. And we had to take crayons, crayons I tell ya, to color in the dice 'cause companies hadn't figured out ink yet...

    RPGs ?!?

My brother talked me into doing the 10-day trial for WOW. I thought it was OK, but I don't see myself paying for it. Just not my cup of tea.

    Real superheroes in Indy?

No doubt that they are mentally off, but it sounds like they are out doing good deeds, which I find pretty admirable. I mean, minus the costumes, these three are choosing to spend their off time wandering around and helping people.

    Real superheroes in Indy?

Geez OG, if I knew you were a Warren Ellis fan, I've got the game based on his series, The Authority. See... always working in a superhero game plug.

Saturday gaming (aka Vince's game Saturdays)

I am still hoping to play or GM RPGs. I like board games OK, but they just don't trip my trigger the way a good RPG session does. I'm looking for escapism and nothing takes me out of the day-to-day, the way an RPG does. I don't even care so much about the setting, I just want to get together...

    Christmas play?

I just went yesterday with the kid and saw it. Wow. We really enjoyed it. I haven't seen a horror movie in a while (I have no patience for hack and slash movies) so it was fun to actually get scared again. And we cried. There were some truly touching scenes in it. Stupid movie.

    Christmas play?

Well, actually pre-Christmas play. Anyone up for gaming on Sunday, Dec. 23? I'm planning on running my D&D game, or possibly superheroes, depending on the number of people who can make it. How about on New Year's Day again? Anyone up for that?

    Sci Fi Saturday?

I don't think I can make it at all guys. The kid was out of school sick yesterday and now I am having car problems. Alex is still in Nevada and it looks like she will be there for a while longer, since her mom was just admitted to the hospital.

    Sci Fi Saturday?

I'm sure I could come up with something to run by Saturday. I would be leaning toward modern horror or conspiracy game though. Who all would want to play? And for what it is worth, I don't know that I can ever recall seeing that quality in Superman. That seems like a Batman trait to me...
