4e allowed a saving throw in such cases.

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

I noticed the poison sting of the pseudodragon was buffed. And it is still unclear if it counts as an attack. I don't know how someone can think that having an at will abilit that renders unconscious for 1 hour is balanced in any way... Con DC 12 is about a 50% chance for quite some levels...

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

Agreed. Mostly at least. Some enemies have special abilities PCs can't get and vice versa. No. It is actually not. In the last session, I gave my players an extra dex saving throw to avoid a pit trap and a str saving throw to catch a wooden beam while falling through a rotten roof. Why? Because...

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

Putting asid the fireball, which is something a bit different (spell vs improvised action), this is exactly how I adjucate player and DM actions. How would the other party feel if it is used against them.

You can move them with you. Of course you can go over the cliff yourself. If grappling would allow you to shove the enemy ahead of you, why is there a shove option? But if you want to allow such shenanigans, feel free to do so. Yeah. Gargoyles have a fly speed. So they can just walk over...

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

Usually that can't happen before you have a chance to grapple back. And even if you are movable, nothing in the rules allows the grappler to shove the creature down a cliff by just dragging. It is first a grapple, and then a shove. Most creatures can't do both in a single turn because they...

5.0 also has quite a lot of errata. More than we have now for 5.5.

I wouldn't either. This is why I think the new version is terrible.

You can actually grapple someone who grappled you. This is how you stop them throwing you from the cliff. Also throwing you from the cliff also requires a shove on top of a grapple. So at least you get another saving throw.

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

The spell is good enough. Give me the cash drawer is reasonable if you point a weapon at the enemy. Lay down weapons sometimes is reasonable. The spell used to not be a blanket do x thing. It was more like jedi move of "they can pass, because those are not the droids you are looking for"...

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

Now it is just an auto win.... with a bit of setup. I am sad to hear that this is how it plays at your table. See above. Nope. Not at all as it is written. It has the resteiction of not obviously deal damage. Which is still debatable and the only straw to hold on for the DM. Suggestion...

I really can't see how someone could think that spell is OK that way..

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

The new suggestion spell does not have to be reasonable anymore. The hobgoblins lack the dex to use long bows. They carry half plate armor that is way to expensive at that level. They also deal way too much damage at range (yes, I used them in my game already).

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

Not enough by a wide margin... Suggestion... Hobgoblins... A general temp hp fix (them going away if the duration of the thing that grants it ends... Like druid wildshape).

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

I don't like slow. It is an all or nothing spell. And the debuff is not big enough to justify its cost. I'd rather upcast hold person. Yes. But area damage spells do help there. I don't think you are correct here. Fooder tends to be annoying as hell. Clearing them up in a single cast really...

Dragon Delves Reveals "History Of" Pages for Dragons

Yeah. I have bought so many adventures now and can't use them all anyway. But saying, those 20 pages could have been another adventure is just incorrect. Maybe the book should have been 12 pages shorter originally? Then they thought: instead of cutting content, we add nice pictures of...

D&D 5E (2024) The New Direct Damage Spells You Should Be Using.

Single target damage that does nothing on a miss is nearly always the wrong choice. Spells are usually good when dealing with masses of enemies. Fireball being able to clear the field of a hobgoblin phalanx with a single cast no matter if they save or not (on an average roll of 28 damage) is...

D&D 5E (2024) When will we get errata?

Can you pass forward that exhaustion from chases should go away like exhaustion from suffocation. ;)

D&D General To multiclass or not to multiclass

I think dips are perfectly reasonable most of the time. A level 1 or 2 dip delays your main class progression but gives everything you need for a character that feels like a multiclass one. A level 1 fighter/wizard is always a little bit behind the pure one (either a spell level, a main or...
