    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

Can you please rephrase that. I fail to make sense of this sentence.

How the Monsters Have Changed in the 2025 Monster Manual: Aarakocra

I also don't have the book, but the gear entry says, that if an item is not in the gear list, the item can't be looted. And it is to assume, the added traits are abilities of the creature, not the item. Of course they can. But it is reasonable not to give items that can be potentially very...

D&D General Which edition did Turn Undead the best?

5.5: you deals radiant damage equal to your wisdom modifier. I principally like it. I would have liked it even more if the damage was half cleric level. I think wisdom modifier does not scale well enough. With half cleric level (rounded up) you start at 3d8 and it goes up to 10d8. Which I prefer.

Monster Manual "how to use a statblock".

How the Monsters Have Changed in the 2025 Monster Manual: Aarakocra

No, you can't. So much was spoiled from the Monster section. The returning seems to be an elemental trait of the Aaracokra. RAW you don't even fimd a normal javelin as it is not in the gear entry.

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

Thugs have multiattack. +4 to hit, 1d6+2 damage. (x2) AC 11, 32 HP Vs Orcs +5 to hit, 1d12+3 damage. AC 13, 15 HP. To be fair, aggressive is a trait that allows them to bring in the hurt very fast. So maybe the challenge is really about the same... If you add orc species trait to the thug...

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

I think it is silly that this causes so much uproar. But everyone can think what they want. It is no fact. My pet peeve is making orcs toughs now. 32 hp. On Orcs. 1/2 level creatures. I hate bags of HP. And then they get multiattack. And are not really strong. So my orc warriors will...

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

I always hated the thug stat block. I really don't like CR 1/2 with that much HP. The dire wolf made me hopeful, that the reduced HP on low CR creatures. The dire wolf statblock made me hopeful that they reduced them.

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

So... it boils down to: you don't like the change so it must be silly?

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

Going by that standard, why have any abilities at all? But I understand that in many circumstances, stats are unneeded, which actually is advice in the NPC section of the DMG. And still, a sentence that says: if you use NPC stat blocks for species that are in the PHB, consider that they have...

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

Ok. I assumed being able to put 2 and 2 together. Also duergars are in the MM 2014. Now Duergars are straight out. No monster entry. No abilities. No guidelines at all. So duergars stopped existing in 2024 D&D. Same for deep gnomes. I is not about those features being great. It is about those...

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

I largely agree with you. But where is the duergar enlarge ability? Where is darkvision? Those tables existed in the 2014 MM. In the 2014 MM in the NPC section we were told to customize NPCs by adding species abilities. One page and two or three sentences. In the NPC section. That all could...

And they get art. I still like them all together.

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

I think I would have been happier with an NPC section like an animal section. And then a few words how to flavour them. NPCs scattered around in the book is mildly annoying.

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

I am just really annoyed if there is no table or at least advice to customize NPCs to match the species represented. 2014 had it. Easily available. In the MM (hint to add PHB traits) and DMG (the famous table). There is no reason not to include those words. I mean: if the enemy is an orc, I...

I think he is not wrong. Orcs not being the goto standard monster has a lot of adventure implications.

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

I am curious how they actually do it. People whohave reviewed the book speak mainly positive about that book. So I still can't believe that there is nothing to stat a 'traditional" orc. Edit: I like how ToV has done it. Just a hint to use PC species traits from the PHB or the table in the MM...
