    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Well, I hope to get ahead today, I can actually devote more than an hour to working on it. Maybe if I can, I can go back and try to get caught up on my story hour (of which more is coming, I promise!) Sargon, while I understand the feeling, you missed the whole point of NaNoWriMo... The idea...

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Well, Im back on track. Im going to take a break, maybe come back for more later tonite, and then hope to get ahead again tomorrow. At the end of this weekend, we who are going slow but steady (*looks with jealousy at yangnome*) are supposed to be close to the halfway point. Hopefully I can...

A poor man's, low magic flaming blade...

I'm DMing a game, and I want to make this encounter possible for them, but not too easy. Suppose we're in a land of practically nil magic items. You cant go down to the corner market and ask them for a +3 Flame Tongue. Now, we're going to be fighting a Troll. We also have a bucket of pitch...

(Win pdf books!) Week 1 complete. Click in first post for link to the week 2 thread.

On Raising and Ressurection.. For me, I think easy access to such things has ruined the whole DnD experience for me. I look at it like I look at Superman: Of course he's brave! He's invulnerable! For me, no matter how much time I have invested in a character, it annoys me more than...

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Heh...I got a whole day ahead of schedule. Then I went to work, and was so sore afterwards I really didnt feel like working. I didnt get a chance today to do anything. My second week slump wasnt about not wanting to write or knowing what to write, but more a sudden restriction on time. Im...

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Go for it Yangnome! As of the end of Saturday I was a bit ahead of schedule. Then I didnt write a thing all day Sunday, dropping back behind schedule. So today I made up for it and got ahead again. If I hadnt promised to update my story hour, I'd still be writing about Sam, and his exploits...

Tales from the Ghostsea Chapter 8 Love and Mutiny (Updated 11/05/05)

I've been thinking of posting character info soon, most likely after I get caught up to the current sessions. I think you do have Dun and Orange mixed up, but then I always get them mixed up myself anyway.

Tales from the Ghostsea Chapter 8 Love and Mutiny (Updated 11/05/05)

Thanks to NaNo showing me how easy it is to write each day (twice a day, no less), expect more updates until I can catch up with the regular sessions. It shouldnt take too long if I can do a session each day (less than a week, I imagine). I have three goals: 1) catch up on ghostsea. 2) hit...

Tales from the Ghostsea Chapter 8 Love and Mutiny (Updated 11/05/05)

Chapter 8 Love and Mutiny Chapter 8 Mutinous Dogs! Captain Perri wouldn’t take his ship on a mission such as Jean wanted him to go on. Instead he sent his backup ship, the Malasian warship. Of course, it would be some time before Jean knew that this ship used to belong to the navy of Mala...

    Most Outrageous Weapons

I dont remember where I got it, but I found a netbook of magic items, and it had some doozies in it. Some were rip-offs...the one ring, excalibur, the Shankara stones...a few were cool, like th Black Flag. When unfurled it caused any opponent who could see it to will save or flee. But then...

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

And the rest of us are nodding and going 'ayep.' Havent done todays writing...or rather I did it in my story hour, not nano. But Im not worried, I can make it, 5027 as of yesterday.

Tales from the Ghostsea Chapter 8 Love and Mutiny (Updated 11/05/05)

Chapter 7 The Baron Chapter Seven: The Baron Baron Jean de Seguzzo stood at the bow of the ship as it navigated the narrow entry to the cove. He couldn’t help but note its position. As a baron of Mala, he was part of its military, and he knew that pirates plagued the region. The cove was...

    Basing tips?

For that, you'll probably have to add more ground cover around the place where they join (be that sand, or flocking, or more gravel). The trick is doing it without making it look like you did it, which is why greenstuff comes in so handy. One trick you might try (on a mini you dont care for...

Tales from the Ghostsea Chapter 8 Love and Mutiny (Updated 11/05/05)

My apologies for taking so long this week, but I wanted to be sure I got this chapter correct. Look for a full-scale update sometime a little later on today.

    Non-Metal Metallics

Thats actually a pretty good idea D'Karr. I was looking into the technique because I sort of dislike the 'glittery' look of most metallics, maybe a compromise is in order.

    Non-Metal Metallics

The reason I ask is cause I'm not so sure I want to use it much. Aside from the difficulty in getting it right, theres the extra time spent. All of this for a mini that might not look so good from any angle other than the front? Since I use my mini's as well as displaying them, is it actually...

    Non-Metal Metallics

Sorry, I watch motor sports, and even then the only one I follow is the IRL. I might occasionally tune in a fight to see if a hockey game breaks out...

    Non-Metal Metallics

I've been working on learning this technique, and Im not terribly fond of the results I've gottn so far. Most likely, it just means I need more practice at it. But I got to thinking. How many people here use that technique? Why? Why not?

Philosophical question: Do games become "obsolete"?

Just one question then. Does that mean that since I can look up a club (and it isnt that hard) that is filled to the brim with members that insist on using their old 8-tracks, 8-tracks are therefore not obsolete by your definition?

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Well, Im keeping just ahead of my daily goal. I can only write for an hour or so at a time. I'm impressed with myself, and am imagining how far I'd get if I were able to devote a normal eight hour day to it.
