Actually, some of us don't know the term (if it was in the 1E books, its been 15 (?) years since I read it). I've just assumed a definition based on context. And only knowing it that way, it would be very annoying to see it used.

QFT. I read that statement and I was just amazed. Nearly everyone I've gamed with (not all, but quite a majority of them) played the rules as written, but griped about the magic system. A few of us tried to do something about it, but then you have the whole problem of porting house rules...

Actually, I can see letting them attempt it. Of course, it would involve a side quest of rather epic scope (none of this building it right off, you go get the bleedin thing). And if they somehow manage to pull it off, well thats what we have Chaositech for. ;)

Here's to us roleplayers! If it weren't for us, There'd be no point in playing more than a few sessions. We'd all be like a first-person shooter. Once you've run through it once, shot all the bad guys, and seen the final cutscene, you move on to the next one.
