D&D 5E (2014) Here's to hoping for an iOS character generator...

Checking WoTC website for job offers, they tend to ask for .NET/C# knowledge. Their website is done in ASP.NET (another .NET/C# technology) and their character creator for 4e was a WPF/Silverlight app (again .NET/C# technology). The "problem" of .NET/C# is that it's a Microsoft technology that...

D&D 5E (2014) Here's to hoping for an iOS character generator...

Given that WotC seems to be using mostly .NET/C# (the old 4e apps, their website...), I wouldn't be too surprised if they used .NET/C# to release multiplatform apps (with the help of Xamarin and a MVVM framework like mvvmcross). That way they could cover Windows/Mac/Windows Store/Windows...

    Book printing quotes (transparency)

One very important thing of using PoD is that your KS is only raising money for producing the book, not for shipping. Fred Hicks explains it wonderfully well on this post: http://www.deadlyfredly.com/2013/10/breakdown-international-shipping/ Mandatory reading for anyone doing a KS I think...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

Yes, you are correct: if I only had to recommend one system I would recommend a PC. If you do not want a PC, then my recommendation right now is to wait and not buy anything. Sony and MS haven't even released their consoles and a lot of their promises may hold or not, and WiiU has a weak catalog...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

That's the way Nintendo iterates over their franchises, and that is why their iterations from my point of view are more innovative than what most of the rest of the game industry does. I don't think a linked narrative is needed to mark a game as a sequel to another (nor a numeral to call it...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

If I remember right in recently numbers published by Nintendo their cash reserves were huge. And the 3DS is doing reasonably well, with even some dying franchises doing way better than expected (Fire Emblem for example). I am honestly not worried on their future really, the Wii/DS cycle was too...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

I am comparing 3 games of the same series of one IP with 3 games of the same series of another IP. I didn't even mix Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy with New Super Mario which I consider a different IP (even if both series are platformers). This comment was an answer to the general complain about...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

I am talking about innovation in games, not other console features. Agreed those may be important for some people, not for me really as I find a PC is way superior on all of those, so they do not influence my decision about buying one console or another, I get those things for their games and...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

Correct! :) Sorry I was not clear enough. I kind of disagree here. I find that Nintendo innovates more on their core franchises than most companies out there. Or at least I find more innovation on their games than I find in the new CoD, Halo or FIFA (talking about other IPs that get iterated...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

I would get a PC and a WiiU. Arguments for the PC: most Xbox/PS games will come for it. Better and cheaper most of the time (Steam sales FTW). Also, there are games you are never going to be able to play on a console (RTS, MOBAs, most MMOS...). Or at least decent ones (I know there are RTSs for...

In theory only the receiver listens to the sending, so they should be safe (apart from probably getting bad news).

    Legends of Anglerre

I like LoA a lot, and I have played 3 very good sessions, one of them with DnD players and another two with a group that loves trying new systems (and LoA was our way of testing FATE). My experience with the game: - The book organization is horrible. - There are too many stunts (and that's a...

Anyone use Dungeonstone 3D dungeon terrain?

I have used a lot the terrain from WorldWorksGames, which is awesome, but it takes time to print and prepare: http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/ I have yet to check their Terrainclips, but I am pretty sure it is as awesome as the rest of their line. Regards!

    Gamehackery: Campaign Manager Features

I don't understand the cloud thing. If I want that, I can use Dropbox/Skydrive for that and not need the app creator to deploy their own custom service. I also like the ability of being able to export easily the content I generate with the tool to common formats, so it is easy for me to share...

Kickstarter Realm Works Kickstarter Launches – Transform Campaign Management!

The software does look impressive indeed :) One question though: will Realm Works provide the capability to "dump" the information to some other format (html, txt, doc,...)? I ask for two reasons mostly: sharing my campaign content in my own gaming blog, and being able to port my content to...

    Sarah Newton's Mindjammer

I have a love/hate relationship with Legends of Anglerre (which she was one of the writers). I love the game a lot (a lot lot), but the book is a huge disorganized mess, with rules everywhere and not very clearly worded in some parts (I would buy a second edition of it blind). I can not comment...

Tell us about your favourite space RPG and why?

For me Alternity, I love the Ordinary/Good/Amazing resolution system, how damage and armor works, the skills list,... And StarDrive and Dark Matter are very good settings. The only issue I had with it was levelling, it always felt wrong somehow.
