    Burning nostalgic for Alternity

Alternity is probably my preferred game. We played a short one-shot in my group some weeks ago and it seems it's going to scalate into a campaign as we all love the system and the setting (Star*Drive).

Virtual D&D and the Hearing Impaired.

I have seen in many Microsoft conferences how they subtitle what their speakers are saying automatically (with pretty good results). I'm pretty sure it's part of the SAPI, but I can't find good documentation about it (SAPI has .NET bindings, so it should be easy to do a small app for this in...

Laptops - What programs or resources do you use to help you run or play your games?

I use OneNote for everything, I have a big notebook called Campaign and there I have several sections where I take notes: campaign plots, adventures, session tracking,...

    DDI and IPAD

I am a heavy TabletPC user (I have a convertible HP tx2500z, an old model without multitouch support), and I love it. When I was looking to replace my old laptop (a high end Dell), I was very sure I wanted a TabletPC because I would use it mostly for: - Give conferences - Take notes in meetings...

    Software for campaign managing

I use OneNote for all my campaign organization and it has worked very well so far.

    DDI and IPAD

You can deploy a WPF app as a Web app, but the CB needs lots of permissions a web app shouldn't have (mostly reading and writing from your hard drive), so that's going to be nearly impossible to do :S

    DDI and IPAD

Well, the main problem for the CB is that it uses WPF which Mono is not going to port any time soon.

    Where do you buy books?

I use amazon.com for new books and Noble Knight Games for everything else (old books, books that amazon.com doesn't have,...). Shipping costs from NKG to Spain are very good. I like also Troll&Toad, but I only get things there when I travel to the USA, or when I really want one book and no one...

    Which one, Droid vs iPhone?

Maybe not the answer you are searching, but if you have waited 5.5 years to change your phone, I would wait a little more for Windows Phone 7 Series. No idea if it will be better or worse than those two phones, but it looks really promising, and the first handsets should be out in...

    Programs to organize campaigns

Yep, this will be released with the new Office (that I suppose will come pretty soon, but no idea).

    iPad

This is a big iPod Touch :( No multitasking, limited HD, limited apps,... Honestly, I can't see why anyone would want to buy this instead of a real TabletPC.

What's a good word processor/ software for writing adventures?

OneNote works great for personal use. And it can export to PDF too if needed (at least 2010 can, I don't remember earlier versions).

    Freeform Spellcasting

I would buy this on a heartbeat, just letting you know :D

    Freeform Spellcasting

The first point can be a problem depending on your players, but the I don't see the problem with the I-win buttons: the players had a problem and solved it in a clever way. They enjoy it (or at least mine do) and I don't care if they needed 5 or 45 mins to solve the situation I had planned. I...

    Freeform Spellcasting

I've played a pretty big 3e campaign with Elements of Magic - Revised Edition and it has been one of the best learning experiences I have had as a DM. For me there are two important things to take into account: - Non spellcasters were boring compared to spellcasters (even more than in vanilla...

    Rituals

There are very useful rituals for low-level parties, but you need to encourage your party to use them. In my case, I gave everyone for free the Ritual Caster feat and some low-level rituals (one player centered in nature, another in religion and another in arcana), and now they use them from...

    Programs to organize campaigns

There is one way right now to "cloud" one notebook: putting it on a Sharepoint server. And soon MS will release Office Live and you will be able to put them on SkyDrive or using OneNote web :)

    [UPDATED DEC 14 - FINAL VERSION] Game/Campaign Trailers/Videos?

Maybe is not common, but when I see a trailer for this kind of product, I think myself "the creator is really confident that this is good stuff, because if not he wouldn't have spend the money needed to create a trailer". So I'm more interested in giving the product a try (or at least I have...

    Ye old Birthright

Do you have a link please? I would really love to see Birthright 4e (or at least kingdom management rules...).
