Trying again: What would it take to get _you_ to use core only?

I agree. If you said Core only cleric with Divine Feats I would be all over that. Otehr classes, more options helps soo much, and spellcasters without Spell COmpendium are just not the same for me.

Trying again: What would it take to get _you_ to use core only?

I voted the last option, but if I were to play a druid I would consider core only. But that would be the only class I would do so with. I like the options and feats taht really allow me to go beyond the base class into more interesting areas, whatever the class.

    Mages vs Clerics

Seriously, reducing the game and all its checks and balances to a duel is ludicrous. Waht matters is how htey hold up, and the variety of actions they can do during a typical game in typical situations, combat, explortion, inter-personal, etc. In this sense the Druid is all-powerrful. For...

Spell Focus - Which School To Pick

Overall the top four are Evocation Enchantment Transmutation Illusion If you choose the right spells. Abjuration, Conjuration and Divination are a total waste, excpet for a very very few spells (And none in Divination I can figure out) But I voted Evocation as I usually tkae Enchantment as a...

Core only, how big of a power drop?

I would not give anything. There is not need. Yes, the non-core has more advantages and builds, but the power level is similar. I would find the SRD or core class a lot mroe boringto play for sure. If everyone uses prestige classes, on the other hand, i would be more inclined to give a bit at...

Ever had a player in your group throw a tantrum or worse? Most uncomfortable moment?

Hmm, I fear i have to go all the way back to College for one gem. At my dorm there were two D&D 2E campaigns going. I ran one on Friday night and a friend ran one on Sautrday night. We had msotly the same players, and he played in my game but I did not play in his (too much D&D) Now there was...

    Draconic Heritage Feats

Just a note. Allowing Metabreath feats on the Sorceror's Draconic Breath feat is controversial by RAW. Metabreath feats require you to have a breath weapon with a 1d4 round recharage time. Be sure to check with your DM about his ruling.

    Draconic Heritage Feats

The feat is mainly in Complete Arcane, along with about 6-7 others. Dragon Magic and Races of the Dragon also have them, though Dragon magic has a lot more Draconomicom has none of them. Yea, I would agree a 0 level spell does 1d6.

    Is everything in Dragon canon?

Ask you DM. His opinion is the only one that matters. For me Canon is the established history of a campaign setting, not which rules you use. So FR and Evberron have canon, the personalities, countries, history and such that make up the world, and some DMs play a canon game where it is the same...

Magic Item Compendium and DMG Only for Magic Items?

I have always thought that magical items are prime house rule territory, and players rarely complain.

    Rules Compendium!

The more i think about this book the more I wonder if it is going to be needed. I mean, after all, what are they putting in it? If they are clarifying the ruels inteh PHB and giving examples, I definitely do not need it. If they are putting in totally new rule sets like psionics (I gotthose...

Are magic arms and armour overpriced?

Actually armor is a minor source of AC. A fully magical armor is only +5 AC over a mundane suit. It is rings of deflection, Amulets of Natural armor and such that give sky high armor classes.

    Price a +4 con, +2 str, +2 dex belt

I would really avoid such items. They are jsut too good for the cost. Savingthatr many slots for a minimal cost is unbalancing.

Are magic arms and armour overpriced?

I do think that weapons are overpriced, and probably should be dropped about 25% or so. Weapons are generally pretty straightforward, with few powers that can overy affect the game, so a lower price would help fighter types out a lot. 18,000 for a +3 equivelent weapon is a fortune for any...

    20th level: the normal numbers

I voted 50% or so, becasue my last 20th elvel group was a bit behind the curve magically, but not badly so. After all, you don't NEED a +10 wepaon and +10 armor, though even if you ahve both, you are still poor for 20th. 760,000 is a ton of gold, and you can buy a lot of obcene stuff. But unless...

Spell Focus for a spell type, not a school

If this is allowed, would SF[Fire] And SF[Evocation] stack? Would the list members allow that?

    Deliberate balancing factor or coincidence?

I agree it is purposeful, even though many older items do not fitthe ruels exaclly, butthen again, the holdover spellcasting system and magic items systems ae the parts I dislike most about 3.5

    I would play a bard if. . .

Bards are a solid character clas in my opinion. i like stronger casters better, and would probably go Battel Sorceror instead of a Bard, but i like them.
