For me it varies by game. The FTF is 50% or 75 % depending on appraise. In one of my PBEMs I have instituted a 100% rule as the in-character fights over treasure wer threatening to destroy the game. And I kid not a bit.

I think the OP is overstating things. Three feats for +3 to hit and +4 to damage is not much at all. And if you tkae those four levels of fighter, there go those three bonus feats you just got. So you take a good BAB, nice HD, and no special abilities whatsoever to get that +3/+4 Seriously...

For me it depends on if I plan to level or not that week. If not, I bring very little, but on level ing -up nights, I bring a whole lot more. Teh DM and I won virtually every book we need, so at elast we can split the load on leveling-up nights.

Suggest someone take the touch of healing feat or a level in Dragon Shaman so they can at least sit at 50% hit points. And then get rid of the NPC healer. You have enough work to do. As for ramping up the baddies, give them all +25% hit points and +2 on every roll they make and then bump up...
