The Keep on the Borderlands - Location?

That's correct - which seems weird with it's placing in Greyhawk (the southwestern most part of the Yeomanry). Since the keep would then abut the Crystalmist Mts., that would make "The Realm" either the Dry Steppes or the Sea of Dust. In addition to the western Pomarj, I'm looking at the...

The Keep on the Borderlands - Location?

When I get home from work, I'll dig out my copy of Return to the Keep on the Borderlands and see what it says, but I like the western Pomarj as a location, too. I plan on setting the game pre-Greyhawk wars (i.e. 1st edition Greyhawk) so the Pomarj seems like a good place. If the game takes...

The Keep on the Borderlands - Location?

Just wondering -has there ever been an "official" location given for Kendall Keep in Greyhawk? I'm planning on using TKotBL as an introductory C&C adventure and I'd like to set it in it's proper place in Greyhawk.

C&C house rules -- what are yours?

That's how we do it - all crits are x2 damage. I'm thinking about adding a confirmitory strike though.

C&C house rules -- what are yours?

So far: 1. A natural “20” on a “to hit” roll is a critical hit. Likewise, a natural “1” on a “to hit” roll is a critical fumble. 2. Characters add their Dexterity modifier bonus or penalty (if any) to initiative rolls. 3. Monsters with hit dice less than 1d8 (1d4, 1d6, etc.) have a +0...

    Castles & Crusades: Monsters

d12 HD? They must have changed them, 'cause the zombies in the Lion in the Ropes adventure (and subsequently the version I use) has d8 HD: Zombie: AC 12; MV 30 ft; HD 2d8; hp 9; #AT 1; DAM 1d8; SA –; SQ -5 to initiative, edged weapons do ½ damage, darkvision; Primes none; AL CE

What was the first monster you killed in D&D?

I'm pretty sure it was a kobold. B2 The Keep on the Borderlands, 1980. :)

who are the Shadowrunners among us?

There was a great adventure compliation called "Missions" that dealt with non-traditional PC's also. IIRC, the included adventures featured PCs as DocWagon medics, Lone Star Cops, and other "legit" professions. Lotsa fun.

The best modules from Necromancer Games

Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia is really good, IMHO. A non-linear sword and sorcery D&D module in the spirit of Howard and his contemporaries. What's not to love?

who are the Shadowrunners among us?

I loves me some Shadowrun. Been playing since the 2nd edition (around 1992 or so). It's never been our "primary" game, but our group always seems to migrate back to SR when we get a little burned out on D&D.

    Updating classic 1E adventures

Welcome to the community! Before you spend the time and effort converting all those adventures take a look through EN World's conversion library - most of the adventures you mentioned are converted and posted there. Even if you decide not to use those conversions they're a good place to start...

    Name your favorite D&D book

I agree with Wombat. For me it's the blue 1979 basic set, 'cause it was my first introduction to RPGs.

SW Episode III opening crawl (SPOILERS!)

I have a love/hate relationship with the Yoda/Dooku fight in ep II. On one hand, Yoda is supposed to be the most powerful Jedi at that time and he proves it. On the other hand, if he can hop around like that WHY DOES HE WALK AROUND LIKE AN OLD MAN WITH A CANE?? I mean HOBBLES in, drops the...

    Coolest Movie Character

Depends on what you mean by "cool". If we're talking the character with the most suave I'd have to vote Bond (and did). If were talking about the most interesting or unique character, then I'd have to vote for Ash.

New York for Gamers? Any recommendations?

Two game stores spring to mind: The Compleat Strategist 11 East 33rd Street (between Madison and Fifth Avenue) and Neutral Ground 122 West 26th Street, 4th Floor (Between 6th and 7th Avenue) As for libraries, the only recommendation I have is the New York Public Library's 5th Avenue branch...

Which is the best villainous organisation in D&D?

Same here. The Theocracy of the Pale is probably my favorite "orginization" in Greyhawk to do this with. In the more "traditional" vein, I've had pretty good games using the Emerald Claw, The Zhentarim, the Red Wizards of Thay, and in a broader scope the orcs of the Pomarj as villians.
