    Matt Colville weighs in.

    Is Colville usually this melodramatic?

City slickers save rural village. (this is the new campaign I’m playing in - as a dapper gnomish Eurotrash wizard)

    Pathfinder 2E PF2E Gurus teach me! +

Pathfinder 2e sounds interesting, but also significantly more complex than 5e while at the same time not 3.75e, either. How much time did it take 3.5/5e DMs to get up to speed running Pathfinder 2e? From what I've been reading lately, 2e sounds like it belongs squarely in the "I'd like to play...

WotC: We Are Not Making AI Dungeon Masters

While what you wrote is inarguably true, I'm go to argue with it (a little) because we're online. I like to think these kind of YouTubers as the human version of used-car lot advertising. They're both loud and attention-getting inherently commercial speech which is not, strictly-speaking, true...

WotC: We Are Not Making AI Dungeon Masters

Honestly I don’t begrudge them that. They’re businesses trying to make money in a highly competitive space.

WotC: We Are Not Making AI Dungeon Masters

In general, it’s a good idea to believe a company when they say they’re not doing something they can’t. Like if SpaceX puts out a statement swearing they’re not building a warp core.

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

That's a good point, and all the streaming video services have recently raised their subscription prices. But $30 for a new service still strikes me as a bad price point, even for the highest tier. The kind of number that a lot of people will react emotionally towards, rather than rationally.

History of the World, Part 2- It's Real, and It's Spectacular

Looks like I picked the wrong week to cancel Hulu. Please tell me we’ll see Jews In Space. They’re so topical now, what with their lasers and all. Omitting them would be a crime against comedy.

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

Let’s grant the $30 highest-tier price is accurate. It’s still clickbait. The real questions are: is there a free tier and if so, how robust is it? What’s the standard tier subscription cost? Will there still be library sharing? Can a single group member share all their purchased content...

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

Twice the monthly charge for Warcraft or HBO. A third more than the most expensive Netflix tier. Does that really sound credible to you?

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

This is a good time to remember social media personalities & assorted YouTubers are frequently businesses that make money from controversy.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

$30 a month is kinda hard to believe for regular monthly subscriptions

I'm beginning to dislike Netflix (re: Archive 81, 1899, Warrior Nun etc cancellations)

I’m still mad at them for canceling The OA and Sense8! I also finally unsubscribed for a while. I’ll be back for Stranger Things, and Sandman whenever season 2 hits. Finally (trying) to take advantage of how easy it is to shuffle streaming services.

What are you reading in 2023?

I’m reading Hiron Ennes’s Leech. It’s a… gothic post-apocalyptic medical murder mystery? Kind of. Astonishingly assured for a first novel. First thing I’ve read that compares favorably to VanderMeer’s Southern Reach trilogy.
