Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar IC

Kali takes Ah-shahran's advice, and advances on Spizz's murderer. As he closes with the specter, Gorm puffs into mist that swirls around Kali's axe as he cuts at the ethereal threads holding the ghostly form. Under a flurry of axe blades, the unnatural creature keens as it loses cohesion...

    Relearning 4th Edition

Generically in building: accuracy is extremely important--you want to hit so you can apply your strong control elements to the enemy. Expertise and Superior Implement (Accurate) are the most common ways to boost this. Initiative is also important, as control is best applied before the enemy...

Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar PCs

I spend far, far too much time lurking on the WotC CharOp and Q&A boards.... But thanks for the compliment :)

Now I'm curious. I'd assume Power of Skill, Unarmored Agility, and Superior Weapon Proficiency. Expertise? Battle Awareness? Improved Defenses? Superior Will? Improved Initiative? Weapon Focus? No superior weapon because you went for a Polearm Momentum build? t~

Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar IC

I don't think you read my mechanics section--I had a readied action triggered on your moving to E10, from where you'd make a granted attack at +2/+4, and then could shift to D12 before making your attack. Gorm can't flank, so you get no benefit attacking from D11.

Given those choices, I personally vote for Mind Thrust. I'd love to add another ranged basic to my arsenal ;) Kinetic Trawl is the other option for an RBA, although (like Force Punch) it's somewhat redundant with what Dimensional Scramble can do. Of course, Dishearten with a strong Charisma...

I don't care which build you choose, but your power selection suggests that you might want to switch. Warlord's Favor (as Tactical), Lead the Attack, and Adaptive Stratagem are all significantly better with a higher Int modifier. Problem with that is that Half-Elf is completely non-synergistic...

Hexblades have beefy basics at melee and range. Warlocks have their choice, and a Human can pick up both. Sorcerer can have a good ranged basic, which can be enough depending on the Warlord. I do think a ranged striker is a bit better for the group, although several builds exist that are...

Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar PCs

Yes indeed :D I'll be going Flame of Hope if we make it to paragon. I can't claim full credit as I'm stealing a lot of ideas from a CharOp build called Flameswitch, but on the other hand, this is basically a full leader variant of the first hybrid character I built (Shaman|Wizard/Invoker). t~

L2 version of Ah-shahran up in the Rogue's Gallery. I also noticed that I never added the Potion of Healing I'm carrying anywhere, so that's been edited into the appropriate places. t~

Attached a L2 version of Ah-shahran. Since I know that not everyone has D&DI, I also included a summary for myself and for Velani. I'll update my message-board friendly layout when we actually level (and I'm glad you like that layout, RavenBlackthorne :) ). ====== Created Using Wizards of the...

Which Essentials class do you like the most?

My answer has the caveat that it wouldn't be true if the E-classes existed on their own, because in most cases I look at an E-class and say to myself something similar to, "hey, there's some cool stuff there that the Knight gets--but I'd still rather play a Fighter (i.e. Weaponmaster) given a...

Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar IC

One creature gone rogue, strange shifts in that picture, and ghostly undead? And who knows what manner of strangeness is going on in that scene! While Ah-shahran considers the identities of the new creatures, Gorm once again comes to Freggo's aid, doing what he can to mitigate the acid before...

On the other hand, we might want to see if we can physically go through the portal--looks like bad news on the other side that we might want to interfere with. Goonalan, looks to me like we're waiting for the results of Velani and Kyalia's turns, and possible actions on the Gray Ooze's...

    Interest Check: Histhaven

Role-wise we have a good mix. Defender, Controller, 2xStriker, 2xLeader. We're melee heavy, with only our Wizard as a primarily ranged character. We'll probably benefit from mobility enabling, to help close with ranged enemies faster, and to help maneuver within the scrums that are likely to...

Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar (Full)

Two things: first, Gorm is unaffected by burst and blast attacks, so unless Spectral Barrage is a series of individual melee or ranged attacks (which is not how you rolled them), he would not be a target. Second, he's not on the battlefield in any case, since I dismissed him with my second...

Tentative build for Markal, a bold (reckless) scion of minor nobility who uses his charm (or fists or blade) to get him out of the scrapes caused by his carelessness. He is a worshipper of Avandra. ====== Created Using Wizards of the Coast D&D Character Builder ====== Markal, level 5 Human...

Scales of War #1 Rescue at Rivenroar IC

Where is that little one going? As Ah-shahran stares at the eastern door, he nonchalantly waves a hand at Gorm, who *wuffs* as he fades into Kyalia (allowing her to fire off an arrow), then reappears beside Freggo, looking pleased with himself. As Ah-shahran moves toward the eastern door, Gorm...

I've lost track of how many people are interested, but I've become rather fond of the Cavalier. Probably Valor given the number of leaders, still debating race between Half-Elf or Human or Eladrin. t~

    Interest Check: Histhaven

Having three leaders around almost demands a high level of party cooperation in power selection and tactical coordination (in order to achieve enough damage output), else fights will tend to drag on and waste resources. It will be very rare for an individual encounter to seriously threaten the...
