    More lay-offs at WOTC! [Merged]

While I am just as paranoid and conspiracy crazy as the next black helicopter spotter, I am continually amazed at the naive attitude with which most people seem to paint corporations. Do I think corporations are going to sheppard our society into transcendental enligntment? No. That is not...

    More lay-offs at WOTC! [Merged]

Yes Mr. TinCan. In 4 or 5 years we will all look back and realise we all owe a debt of gratitude to those two gentleman. PS. I am not a Dancey fanboy. I don not agree with everything he says as if from on high. I do appreciate what his idea was and what the two of these gentleman have...

    More lay-offs at WOTC! [Merged]

I have been saying this for two years. This whole thing. ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!! Layoffs and all......... was put in motion 4 years ago by Peter Adkison and Ryan Dancey. Mark my words. The whole plan is yet to be revealed but it is getting closer. closer..................

    realistic geography

I used to be ssooooo obessed with reality and detail. Geography, ecology frickin ornathology....... And while I as the world creator thoroughly enjoyed these aspects I realsied that is impacted the overall enjoyment of the game for the players very little. Dragon did an article series a few...

    Character Figurines?

I have to second Wicht's suggestion. IMO, Reaper has THE BEST minis out there. There website has photos of them all and even some in the pipeline. They used to be the least expensive on the market but are now at about the norm. Of course they are MUCH cheaper than Chainmail and Warhammer...

Non-combat, non-magic feats: Why are there no good ones?

On this point Reynard I follow you. I think there is a market of people out there that would be intrested in this sort of stuff. However, I think it is a smalller subset than the average player. It all depends on what you want out of your games. Sometimes I want the incredibly involved longterm...

Best sites online for cheap rpgs - new & used?

I usually use Ebay but I have also bought and sold stuff through Titan Games. Thanks for the tip Maraxle. I had been looking for a copy of Return to the Keep on the Borderlands. Found it at Half.com for $13.

Non-combat, non-magic feats: Why are there no good ones?

Thank you Luddite I think you Luddite expands upon my earlier point perfectly. Outside of combat and crafting item actions the "rules" STS of 3E are pretty vague. Example; Can you own a castle in 3E? Yes. Ok, what does that mean? It means you own a castle that is worth X number of GPs with Y...

[OT] Do you guys read signatures or only posts?

I will usually only check a sig if the poster refers to a link there. I have found some nice campaign websites that way. But I mostly ignore.

Teflon... Oh man I laughed for a good 15 minutes on that one!!!!!!!!! It sounds like you owe your grandparents a lot. Great people.

Non-combat, non-magic feats: Why are there no good ones?

Originaly from Rangerwickett I have to agree with Rangerwickett here. I'm of the opinion that social status issues are better resolved with templates. If your party compeletes the king's quest and he deeds you a small keep on the edge of his kingdom you could be granted the Land Holders...

    [Merged] Old Dice Thread 1 & 2

Yeah, I have a 30 sider made of the same low end plastic that is so worn down I could probably use it as a perpetual motion machine.

Non-combat, non-magic feats: Why are there no good ones?

That is because 3E lacks the supporting mechanisms around "social" or roleplaying feats that make them truly work while. The system has no real codified way of handeling social and political titles, economic wealth over monetary wealth, land holdings, templates for social interactions...

    Your favorite 1st level module?

Under Illefarn. This was THE best low level module I ever DMd. It will last a good 3-4 months of game play with plenty of RPing opps and a nice classic dungeon crawl at the end. It was probably the most value I ever got out of 8 bucks hands down. Could be easily adapted for non-FRealms play.

Charity Fundraiser - our own setting search!

I like your idea Cardinal, but I would go 20% for the 1 winner and 2% for the 5 - 16 pagers. I think splitting it any more than this would result in some $.16 royalty checks. I'm guessing even the 20% is not going to be a substantial amount of money.

How does your family view your hobby?

My sister to this day (23 years later) still call me a geek. They have never had any interest in it. Its just good natured ribbing. Besides, one of my sister's has triplets (all boys) she will get her's when I buy them all PHBs for their 10th birthdays!!! My younger brother played a lot in high...

I don't think Morrus is even close to announcing the offical opening yet. I think there are quite a few ducks he needs to get in a row first.

As a DM, what aspects of the game do you feel weakest in?

Of the 156 votes the top three areas most DMs seemed concerned with are 1) Roleplaying 2) Pacing and 3) Adventure Writing. Wow!!! This seems to me to be the real meat of the DMs job. Anyone suprised by these results? I wonder if we as DMs are a little hard on our selves?? Most of us profess...
