D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Beyond and Sigil were seperate teams with different products: I have heard nothing but good things about Maps, the light VTT from the Neyond team making this Atlas.

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

I don't feel the need or desire to divest myself of the Goodman products I have already, and I quite like the TSR OAR as historical documents to read and study...but they won't ever get a cent from me in direct sales again.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

We got into that on the forum last year, the scale of the changes were pretty egregious, before the changes the Sword Coast region alone is about the size of Europe, but in 3E everything is cramped and on top of each other. For just the Sword Coast region, leaving off the rest of Faerun: In...

D&D General The Purple Dragon Knights are tied to an Amethyst Dragon (confirmed)

To be fair, SCAG really doesn't have much to say about Coromyr or the Purple Dragon Knights, IIRC. There is the Banneret Subclass, but not too much on historical developments there. And...they may be doing something of a retcon, we just don't know the angle yet. Too soon to say. Doubly so how...

D&D General The Purple Dragon Knights are tied to an Amethyst Dragon (confirmed)

Yeah, there is no indication so far thst they are engaging in a retcon: just because the Purple Dragon Knights in the 14th century weren't involved with an Amethyst Greatwytm doesn't mean the 16th century Purple Dragon Knights can't be.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Yeah, I also suspect that the area covered will resemble the old 1E fold-out map.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

I would wager it will be either about tge same area as tge 1E OG map, or maybe as much as the 2E map. Nothing beyond Faerûn seems likely given that it is called "The Atlas of Daerûn".

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Interesting that the map becomes significantly denser with locations around the Dalelands, I wonder if this combines the poster map with the more focused regional maps we will likely see in the Adventjres Guide?

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Not only is there going to be a poster map in the forthcoming FR book set, but Beyond will have some sort of interactive Atlas.

D&D General The Purple Dragon Knights are tied to an Amethyst Dragon (confirmed)

Doesn’t mean that a given powerful villain doesn't have ways to come back, particularly with time travel on the table.

Still, the rules of the game are the rules of the game...there are always options, and it is in-genre.

Really not clear to me why this would be a change: D&D and the Forgotten Realms have always been at thst comic b9ok level, that's part of the fun.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

The Forgotten Realms has alwqtss had nebulous political borders; literally there be dragons, and trolls, and aboleths and all sorts of things. Points of Light.

Beautiful! Looks like Mike Schley's work, actually fits well with the style of the now-classic SCAG map.
