Really, I thought that was the thing being referred to way before the show existed. And Snow will be back in the books (if they ever get finished), basically everything about the shows ending was broadcast in the novels previously.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

The main criticism of the WotC books (who it must be noted post-Perkons are largely being written by Paizo alumni) is about their overarching structure, precisely because the connecting material is thin and easy to remove the component modules. I don't see why the format change would change...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

Don't see why they wouldn't be, any more or less than before. WotC has been putting out long campaign books thst are easy to break apart as modules for over a decade now.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

TSR never, ever wanted to go with a more nuanced approach: that wasn't their way.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Yeah, I get that, frankly. The Warlock as a Class has been fairly problematic in a lot ways to me, as qell: I appreciate that 2024 rules went out of their way to decouple the Warlock from being particularly indebted to the Patron, even if they derive power from them, with no takesie-backsides...

I mean, I appreciaye your point here, yet is it that much weirder than the Fiendish or GOO Warlock...?

That's juat based off of what people actually do, though: AotC research found out that the organizing principle of most campaigns in practice is the Academic year.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Honestly, I've never seen it as much of an issue in D&D. Now, I only started with 3E, so "cheating" has always probavly been built in with 4d6 drop lowest and guidelines to let a PC reroll if it doesn't match the minimum threshold...but I've never seen anyone even consider a non-rolling option...

Don't threaten me with a good time. Random charts are wonderful.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Yeah, if WotC started charging $79.99 fir a 256 page book the way Paizo is now, the reaction would be understandablely more intense.

And as an example of change being possible... Apparently at least some of the PCs in Campaign 4 will have new Subclasses custom built for them by Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins. I expect those will be at least decent.

It's not a job seperated out, but listening to every Chris Perkins appearance on dragon Talk where he talks about what he did as Product Lead...it included final layout.

You know what's fun? Slot machines. Just saying, no dopamine rush quote like Megatravaller character creation. But, uh, guess what, there is actually an RPG with a (optional) highly random character generation system thst gives balanced results! takes a shot...

Yeah, as I said, thwt is entirely outside my real life experience, only something I've heard online.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I mean, no joke, thst is part of what Perkins did on his books. And when there is some blank space...well, room for some fun creative writing, what could go wrong...?

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Guess who did layout for the Spelljammer books...? But at any rate, this particular issue I don't see happening again: now every line of text has to be approved by two sensitivity readers, so they haven't had any issues on that front in years and I don't see it recurring anytime soon (at least...

Never actually seen point buy or an array used on the ground, nor anyone express anything other than delight with rolling stats? "Rolling has downsides" just is outside of my IRL experience entirely. Though if you want a game that doesn5jabe rolled stats... takes a shot

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Yup, and they were not definite on who did it after the fact, but Perkins was hinting at a reference to Planet of the Apes he had snuck into the books in previews beforehand...which was the Hadozee weird White Savior backstory in question. Which makes sense he could do it at the last minute, he...
