D&D 5E (2014) Persuasion - How powerful do you allow it to be?

Though it may seem revolutionary to some, I have been DMing this way since I started with AD&D back in the day. I just assumed that of course no one would roll dice if there was nothing at stake, nothing would change, regardless of the result, so why would you bother to exert the energy? I...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

Totally, I believe this goes for every edition. and not just a decade, there is enough material in every edition of D&D, to date, to keep you busy for the rest of your life. I try not to refer to an edition in the past tense, as they are all available and playable.

D&D 5E (2014) Tweaking Reliable Talent and comparing it with Indomitable

I think Fighters should get some better saving throw action, like they had in AD&D; maybe at 5th level (as they get nothing compared to the other extra attack classes at that level) they can add 1/2 their proficiency bonus to any save that doesn't already use their proficiency bonus, or something.

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC's Kate Welch Hints at Celebrity-Written 2020 Adventure Book

I have more faith in their design than Kate's.

D&D General What’s the weirdest mount you’ve ever employed in-game?

Cool, sounds a bit Terry Pratchett, dark style (Ravenloft meets Spell/Voidjammer).

D&D General What’s the weirdest mount you’ve ever employed in-game?

Very cool, and the 3rd Ed Arms & Equipment Guide, one of the whackiest D&D products of all time (some very clever and funny stuff in there), has gelatinous cube harnesses/"saddles". I think they mention herds.

D&D 5E (2014) Persuasion - How powerful do you allow it to be?

"How to Play 2. Sometimes, resolving a task is easy. If an adventurer wants to walk across a room and open a door, the DM might just say that the door opens and describe what lies beyond. But the door might be locked, the floor might hide a deadly trap, or some other circumstance might make it...

    D&D 5E (2014) What Monsters got nerfed from early D&D/AD&D to now/5e

Me memory is fantastic, and, this jogs that your reply was nonsensical defensive crapola. Though there seems to be a wider agenda going on over there, one fuelled by antagonism and other, so it's not surprising, best to probably not "communicate".

    Is Pathfinder 2 Paizo's 4E?

I don't see it that way, at all; it's a clinical, dense, byzantine system.

Hahahaha, what the hell are you talking about?

    D&D 5E (2014) What Monsters got nerfed from early D&D/AD&D to now/5e

Cool, but the problem is introducing +X weapons into the game; the PCs have it easy enough to hit the monsters as it is (same with magic armour, in the reverse).

D&D 5E (2014) Obscured, Dim Light, and the Darker Part of the Feywild

I would suggest: Vision and Light Dim light, A brilliant moon or starlight might bathe the land in dim light. Darkness Characters can face darkness outdoors on moonless or starless nights, Darkvision A creature with darkvision can see in dim light as if it were bright light and in...

D&D 5E (2014) Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

I base proficiency bonus for monsters off of hit dice, like PCs (one of the bonuses is bypassing the circular reference in the DMG). As for the weapons table; first, the omissions: 1d12 and 2d6 piercing weapon, 1d8 finesse slashing weapon, etc. Then the handaxe, should be 1d4 damage, also, the...

D&D 5E (2014) Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

I don't agree, not a big sacrifice, and certainly not deserving of inherently broken mistakes. Tying grappling/shoving to skills was a big mistake, I feel. 5th Ed seems to have missed a few final edits or what-have-you (e.g. weapons table, monster proficiency based off of CR, etc).

    D&D 5E (2014) What Monsters got nerfed from early D&D/AD&D to now/5e

Yeah, more things straight out immune or resistant. Damage Resistance towards magic weapons is a joke: Once you have a magic weapon, don't worry about it, you got everything...

D&D 5E (2014) Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

I think a 17th level rogue with a +17 grapple check vs. most monster's grapple check being sad; as most monsters are not even proficient in Athletics or Acrobatics, let alone double the number, is lame. Seems like lazy design they hoped would just wash out.

D&D 5E (2014) Persuasion - How powerful do you allow it to be?

I have never thought skills, in general, go with D&D, and certainly not the social ones (Cha-based). With CoC, wonderful; with D&D, somehow seems forced and tacked-on.

Nice, I have come to a similar place with 5th Ed monsters. "...I like the way you think, gonna keep my eye on you..." *as said by Sam Kinison-RIP*
