    Spoilers Rebel Moon-my spoiler review

There's a scene in Watchmen where a character throws her engagement ring at someone, and it happens in excruciating slomo for no reason at all, and that's when I was fully off the Snyder train for good.

Which RPGs did you play in 2023?

This year I played kind of a lot, thanks to two weekly sessions plus some online con/pickup games. About 100 sessions total, from most to least played: Star Wars hack of Scum and Villainy Dark Sun hack of Wicked Ones Homebrew 2d20 science fantasy game Nobilis Blades in the Dark Blade Runner...

Hull Breach Fills A Hole Full Of Content For Mothership

Fair enough. I'll elaborate. I think the third-party Mothership community has produced an oddly large amount of silly content. Orbital Debris, for example, turned out incredibly goofy, and I think a lot of what's in Hull Breach is also really silly. There's always been an audience for RPG...

Hull Breach Fills A Hole Full Of Content For Mothership

Counter-point: Hull Breach presents a microcosm of Mothership's sloppy approach to horror gaming. There's some cool third-party Mothership content out there, but so much of is just goofy, especially compared to what a lot of people are doing with Trophy, Call of Cthulhu, Cthulhu Dark hacks, etc.

    Everyone should play Nobilis, really

I mean, I don't like D&D monsters either, or D&D, so I hear what you're saying but don't really get it. D&D is not my bag, including because of dopey stuff like flumphs. My issue, apart from the cosmology being overstuffed to an insanely indulgent degree, is just the pure unbridled randomness...

    Everyone should play Nobilis, really

I'm glad you had fun with it. As for it having or not having a Toon-like quality, here's a tidbit from the book: If anyone made it through that paragraph, congratulations, and apologies. If you love the idea of looking up the number of miracle points required to... summon a...

    Everyone should play Nobilis, really

I'm currently in a Nobilis campaign and I hate everything about it except the diceless resolution. IMO the setting is so incredibly detailed, unfamiliar, and non-intuitive—with tons of accepted protocols and rules your character risks breaking—that you really have to develop setting mastery...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Deathmatch Island, The Molt, Hellslayers, and more

It could also be a great way to kick off a longer campaign using another system, assuming the PCs ever escape. But I think I'm most excited about it as an excuse to play the Paragon system—though Agon and some of the other settings/premises have been neat-looking, this one really grabs me.

Review of Twilight: 2000: You’re on Your Own, Good Luck

I can totally see that. Though I'm also a big fan these days of keeping campaigns "short"—20 sessions or less. Solves a lot of the same problems that plague TV shows that run for tons of seasons.

Review of Twilight: 2000: You’re on Your Own, Good Luck

That might not be a bad thing necessarily, right? I can imagine the resource minigame getting a little boring after a bit. Shifting priorities and tensions can be a great part of a campaign.

Moria Campaign Module Coming for TOR2e and LotR 5e

That one's a print you can get through the campaign, by a concept artist who worked on Jackson's movies. So just a bit of art, but not in the books, I don't think.

Moria Campaign Module Coming for TOR2e and LotR 5e

I'm not super familiar with AiME but LotRRP is surprisingly close to TOR 2e. Lots of mechanics carried over (Shadow points, Fellowship pts, etc). 5e is not my bag, but if it had to be I'd definitely go for that take on it.

    Don't you be modest! It's a really well-conceived and well-written book.

Congratulations to 2023's ENnies Award Winners!

I'm excited that Brindlewood Bay won its category, but a little bummed Trophy didn't take Gold too.
