OK, we have a problem [please read!]

If the accounts expire, then I've never received a message saying so. If they don't expire, then maybe that's something to think about. -BG

    Murchad's Legacy. . .

The word is that we pulled our books from RPGShop before they got liquidated. :( I'll try to update the site to reflect that the book is only available as a PDF. Or you could take your chances and hope I get around to hosting the book as a wiki. But that's a pretty low priority for me...

Perennial campaign worlds vs. one-shot campaign worlds

One-Shot. It gives the campaign a beginning, a middle, and an end.

    The Opposite of Railroading...

Alright You Primitive Screwheads, Listen Up! Note: below I give examples to help you use these concepts. I would expect that most of you (at least the ones who don't have to mouth the words as they read) are able to come up with ideas that are more robust and less silly. I am only using these...

Experienced DM needs more experience...give me your ideas!

Time to bring out the best kept secret in d20 http://www.scratchfactory.com/Resources/SwashCards.pdf Use these. The catch is that the bad guys get some too. Since you'll be adding more flair to the game, the bad guys can always get in an opportunity to narrate their evil pan (e.g. "Before...

What happens when you "identify" the glowing alter or magic room?

See, the hour long requirement is really only applicable in some cases. I forget if a wand of identify might speed things up, but even if it didn't the DM can't impose time pressures for every single one of these things. Celebrim, Hmmmm. I like that ammount of information.

    2nd & 3rd level Prestige Classes?

Yeah, the racial ones. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/racialParagonClasses.htm 1) They're supposed to reflect that your character has acquired some experience and is worthy of being a part of a higher ranking order 2) Because we already have multiclassing 3) Because any 5 level...

What ever happened to spell research?

Yeah, well wizards are getting their spells off the internet now. But seriously, I blame sorcerers. Your wizard spends six weeks and a decent chunk of gold creating a new spell. My sorcerer sees you cast it, says "cool!" and has it on his spell list by Tuesday. That kind of sucks all the...

What happens when you "identify" the glowing alter or magic room?

Some adventures feature magic rooms or glowing alters, or other such things. These are generally set up as puzzles or traps. So in your game, what happens when the PC casts identify on the room that has a giant magic chess set (e.g. such as in the original harry potter book/movie) or on the...

Recommend me some good political adventures

Dood, What exactly were you thinking of? I've run a few (as in two or three) with mixed success. What I find works best is a regular adventure that has political repercussions. Example: Orcs have established a base in the nearby caves! The party has to get them out! But.... Faction A...

Star Wars SE Skills in D&D

The bright side is that with a condensed list and more skills available, more adventures will have skill checks since requiring them won't be a bottleneck.

Merric's view: Thoughts on the Digital Initiative.

Watermarks I actually kind of like I don't like those silly encrypted PDFs that check to see that they're not on more than six computers. Issues with the tissue paper encryption aside, it's very easy for me to use multiple computers in the course of a year and six in one or two years is very...

    Planescape: The Perfect MMO Setting?

You would have to make allowances for PCs of different factions to adventure together. There is no good-evil divide and there are too many factions to irrevocably prevent PC A from hanging out with PC B.

Spells that make you go "Why do I show up?"

In MMORPGs they're called "crowd control" spells/abilities. I think they're awesome, but you do have to be smart about how you use them.
