    Meloncov's Sci-Fi Illustrations

We're working on a short movie together. Currently, we're in pre-production, doing the modeling, scripting, and storyboarding. As organic creatures are nearly impossible to do well in DOGA, and we don't have the time or recources to use a more complex program, we are creating a drama about...

    Meloncov's Sci-Fi Illustrations

There are ways to get shadows and to UV map textures, but they're a pain and often require going through a plugin or second program. I am working on learning Lightwave from books and DVD lessons. It's rather slow going, but I'm making some progress. I've also applied for a month long training...

    Star Wars Books?

Heretic. ;) Seriously, how far did you get? At the thirty page mark or so, the dynamic changes dramatically. Jacen overcomes the physical torture, so Vergeie starts forcing him to question his values and views towards the force It has some brilliant character development (by franchise sci-fi...

    Pre-painted/non-random...Will they affect players?

The market for PC minis in gereral is large, but the market for mid-level elf wizards with a pointed hat, a staff, and long hair is too small to be worth making a pre-painted miniature for.

    Star Wars Books?

Legacy is bad. Very, very bad. it more or less ignores all the character development that occurs during NJO, and has really wonky plots.

    Star Wars Books?

I'd say that Matthew Stover's (Trator, RoTS novelisation, and Shatterpoint) books are as good as Zahn's. Very different, and perhaps not appropriate for a 9 year old due to their dark nature (especially Traitor, were the first half of the book is an extended torture sequence), but just as good.

Not necesarily. Navel battleships have been steadily moving towards a smaller number of larger guns.

I like the expressions on your characters, but the proportions are wonky.

    Serenity takes Star War's crown!

The poll was for best sci-fi movie, which I think Serenity deserved. If it was for "greatest" sci-fi movie it should have gone to either Star Wars. To clarify; I think that Serenity was better done than Star Wars, with better characters, better dialogue, and a more original plot. However, Star...

Need advice on some computer art

You don't have to pay for the unregistered versions of L2 and L3. You can't render animations, but for still images they are fine. Doga is rather like 3D legos, while sketchup is a 3D drawing program. If you have trouble drawing, I'd go with DOGA.

Need advice on some computer art

If you just want to do vehicles, use DOGA. It's a japanese 3D modeling program. Easy to learn, cheap, and it'll get pretty respectable looking results (follow the link in my sig for some examples). The manual is pretty straitforward (though badly translated). Still, like any other art program...

Knowledge (architecture & engineering)--who actually has it as a class skill?

I've had at least one character with ranks in it. I used it mostly for demolitions.
