My only grudge vs the vigor line regards wands of lesser vigor. I suppose my party has soured my on that. Wands of lesser vigor have became a major staple in any adventurering party they throw together.

I'd strip the clerics highest level or two of spells (depending on his level) until he had proves himself to his new god. Taking away all of spellcasting hurts him and his group a lot. I think losing his highest spells would be enough of a motivation to keep this from being a everyday thing.

And one more thing... It doesn't look like Quill Blast quills count as magic weapons from the spell description, so they are pretty much foiled by any form of DR.

I really don't think you can fully compare it to flame strike though. Penalties aside, quill blast does average more damage than flame strike vs huge creatures. However, Quill blast also requires you to be within 20ft of your target and is likely to effect your allies as well. And If your...

I can't say I like the looks of it. The damage I don't really mind, but the penalty per quill is a little much. Perhaps a secondary save vs the quills penalty would balance it a little more.

It most definitely is min-maxing, at least in some form. I'm not really put off by the multiple prestiege classes - we tend to use prestige classes in a similiar way to feats. They represent your abilities but do not necesarily mean you fit the flavor text of said prestiege class. Exceptions...

What is the context of the campaign? I've always been a big fan of druids myself, but they are pretty similiar to spirt shamans so that probably won't work either. They tend to be pretty ho-hum as well. Clerics can be all kinds of fun. Like Thane said there are a ton of dieties out there.

It seems to me, if the ring can provide enough calories/nutrients for a full grown man, troll, ogre, or dragon, it should be able to properly nurish a 8 lb baby. :D
