Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Two threads in as many days where a guy who blocked me for I-have-no-clue-what-reason is being an trollish annoyance. It's nice when the trash takes itself out!

Including one billionaire in particular who has conceived at least 14 children with at least 4 different women, and possibly many more.

    Our Physical Fitness

Last night I went back for more, but kept it pretty short. Also went pull-focused, with three sets of cable rows (dropping weight slightly and adding a few reps, trying to focus on stricter form than I do with heavier weight), a couple of sets of lat pulldowns, and three sets of cable lateral...

    Our Physical Fitness

Last night I had a good session - three circuits of dumbbell bench with drop sets, dumbbell inclined curls (and actually added reps for the first time in forever) with drop sets, dumbbell skull crushers (added a little), and dumbbell seated lateral raises (also a slight increase). Then three...

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

A fun article on disease in OD&D vs. AD&D. https://deltasdnd.blogspot.com/2012/02/damn-you-gygax-part-1.html

Concur. When I use dumbbells I always reference the weight per dumbbell. Same with machines which report the per-hand weight (like a supine press or shoulder press). Though I don't usually record weights in this casual chat. (I log those in a workout chat with a couple of my brothers).

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

Historically diseases kill a lot more people in war than enemy soldiers, sure, but I think that's orthogonal to the point under discussion. Grossman makes some extremely strong assertions (“everything you think you know about war is based on 5,000 years of lies”) about the vast majority of...

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

Absolutely. And similar data showing that for casualties caused by infantry squads it's normally the machine gunner who does the bulk of the damage.

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

Yes, I think Grossman still made unsupported arguments from the other data points, too. Low accuracy and lethality rates can also be a consequence of inaccurate weapons and deliberate suppressing fire, for example.

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

That was a dropped thread in this movie, remember. When Lex says he's going to find another victim to threaten to get Supes to talk, and muses aloud that Kent could be a good choice.

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

Marshall's data has been called into question, and Grossman has some serious detractors. I don't think his assertions are very well supported.

He's only 39, right? I was a teenager for OWoD and I'm ten years older.

    Our Physical Fitness

I was out late Saturday night so got a late start Sunday and my energy level wasn't what I might hope, but I still got in a good long full body session. Four sets of machine pec flies (all the dumbbell benches were taken when I got there), followed by three circuits on a bench of dumbbell...

Agreed. I wonder if Coogler is aware of V:tM at all and whether that could have been a direct homage.

    Sinners (2025)

Absolutely the opening narration established a mythological/magical connection between musical and poetic traditions in Africa, Ireland, and elsewhere. It references Filidh, although they were poets and seers rather than musicians (musicians were substantially lower-rank/class under the Brehon...

    Sinners (2025)

Ah, that being an intended parallel to more modern African coerced conversion makes sense. When he talks about it in the movie it set my "bad history" meter off a bit. It reminded me of 20th century ahistorical tropes about "the burning times" and that the snakes from Jocelyn's hagiography...

    Sinners (2025)

Yes. It was a process that took place over several centuries, and we have surviving period texts (such as the Uraicecht Becc and Bretha Crólige) showing that, for example, druids retained legal rights and status, though much diminished, until about 500 years after Patrick. Christianity became...
