Back to the gym last night for dumbbell bench, dumbbell inclined curls, dumbell behind the head skull crushers, and dumbbell seated lateral raises. Felt good, and added a couple of reps here and there. Yesterday morning I was dragging ass, because the only time I can normally hang out with my...

Dyson also has some free stocked dungeons and adventures on his site, in addition to Dyson's Delve. Of them I've run Goblin Gully and Burial Mound of Esur the Red, which are short ones, and they've both been fun. https://dysonlogos.blog/downloads-games/

What are you reading in 2025?

25 years old(!), and I've got the 20th anniversary revised and updated edition. I'll try to check in here with some thoughts mid-stream.

What are you reading in 2025?

Finally finished Gary Alan Fine's Shared Fantasy, which closes with some more dense sociology, where the beginning and middle of the book have more relatable ethnography of gamers and amusing anecdotes. Still, even through the end there are still interesting historical insights into gamer...

    Sinners (2025)

You know, I'm of two minds about this.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Does that one give you a pun/old school D&D reference?

    Sinners (2025)

A big feature of Tarantino's movies is routinely to subvert the genre while also celebrating it. Reservoir Dogs is a "heist movie" where we never see the actual heist and even the "planning scenes" skip virtually all the details of the actual crime and are mostly just about the characters...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Still common for camping, though I see it a lot with fire dancers/spinners. It's the main fuel they use with those implements.

    Sinners (2025)

The shark first appears what, 80 minutes into Jaws?

    Sinners (2025)

Yup. The movie took enough time to introduce the setting and characters, establish stakes and make the audience care.

Yeah, I'm starting to understand that better. Always best to just compare numbers on a given machine against that machine. It's annoying, though.

    Our Physical Fitness

I did, though I didn't go too hard and am feeling some soreness this morning. Smith machine barbell inclined bench three sets with a couple of drop sets, machine triceps extensions likewise, and tried out cable lateral raises, three sets each side. The weight I could do was substantially...

What makes a successful horror game?

I only played 1st and 2nd editions, and I agree completely that the superheroes with fangs power fantasy was too indulged by the system. It would have worked better if Generation wasn't an available Background, so you had to start 13th Gen (the youngest and weakest vampires), and if Diablerie...

What makes a successful horror game?

Fearful Ends' mental stress cards are a cool improvement on this concept, IMO. I actually like that they give the player a bit more control in choosing how their character loses control and acts out, and fitting that to the character's personality, though the pacing of their descent is more in...

Who is your favorite James Bond?

These are of a piece, and both pretty good. Except a glass of water with ice will also get cloudy if you shake it vigorously. Fun idea, though.

Who is your favorite James Bond?

This could be a fun exercise to try once with a friend, but I know I'd regret it afterward.

"If I ever opened a trampoline store, I don't think I'd call it Trampo-Land, because you might think it was a store for tramps, which is not the impression we are trying to convey with our store. On the other hand, we would not prohibit tramps from browsing, or testing the trampolines, unless a...

Who is your favorite James Bond?

This almost exactly. Moore was the current Bond when I was a kid, and I still have a soft spot for his humor and unflappability. Connery seemed cruder by comparison, but in retrospect was great. Craig acts circles around the both of them, but they're all good fun.

My back knot/pain relaxed enough that I was able to lift Thursday night, though I shifted my exercises a little to reduce the chance of aggravating it. Machine pec flies for four sets plus a couple of drop sets, machine biceps curl three sets plus a couple of drop sets, and three sets of...
