I think we can agree this isn't a legitimate factor. Legally they might be able to get away with it, but that's just an indication that the law needs to change

The real problem is that for some inexplicable reason the credit card companies aren't yet legally classified as common carriers. They're moving money around for you they should face the same restrictions as people moving freight or data or phone calls around.

Unfortunately my current debit card is a mastercard. Which is annoying because it's currently the main card I use. I'm going to have to talk to my bank and see if they can get me a non-mastercard one, or possibly might even have to find a new bank
