Yes. here is one way: His 2nd level, he takes sorcerer, Knowledge Arcana is a class skill for sorcerer, and he puts his 5 skill poitns into Kn:Arcana. Then levels 3, 4 and 5 he puts one of his skill points into Kn:Arcana, brining it to 8 ranks at level 5.

Which part? A nice feat to pick up? You already have the pre req, and it could be used to double the damage of a lot of spells... or why sorcerers can't use both? I was under the impression that since it takes a full round action to use a metamagic feat, a sorcerer can only use one in a round...

Thats a good point Capellan, a Wizard could qualify and start taking levels starting at level 6.

prereq for Energy Substitution is 5 ranks in Knowledge:Arcana and One other metamagic feat :) Also, IMHO, Energy Admixture is a nice metamagic feat for a E. Savant to pick up as well. A wizard could use energy sub and energy admixture on the same spell, a sorcerer could not.

I believe it would be a tripiling, like the rules for critical range (doubeling of a doubeling is a tripleing...) Still, true its not very long.

If I use a empowered fireball heightened to a 9th level spell, whats the Save DC? As a 9th level spell or as a 7th?

I think the reason is that you need at least 2 metamagic feats to qualify for this PrC. And a wizard could use both Energy Substitution and his other metamagic, where as the Sorceror can only use one. I personally dont like Sorcerors (as in I wouldnt play one), and have never seen one use a...

The summoning Prestiage Domain from Defenders of the Faith allows summoning spells to last 2x as long.

Elemental Savant is my favorite PrC *EVER.* I had a human go the fire route a few months back. Right now I'm starting a Gray Elf at 4th whos going the Air/Electricity route. Can't wait until I get that sucker to 10th in savant and get a fly speed :D
