Anyone Done the Math on Treasure Parcels?

I've been looking around the web and haven't been able to find it, but does anyone know of a thread on here (or other 4E website) that gives the averages of treasure doled out via the new rules in the Rules Compendium? The first session of my campaign just got put ahead on our schedule, and I...

Is it possible to houserule feats in new CB?

My campaign is mostly house ruled. That's the point of D&D. As far as I'm concerned, the old CB wasn't house-rule-able enough. What about new skills instead of just adding an extra one of the old skills? I hope now that they can safely avoid piracy, they'll actually allow those things (as I...

The Slow Death of Epic Tier

Or, you know, Epic by it's own nature is just boring. And your party kills another god *yawn*. Let's go out drinking. It's not that Epic tier doesn't contain challenge. It just doesn't contain an easily usable plot devices. It pushes the DM into the hole of "fight the god of the week"...

    Essentials Assassin

http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/26276933/Dragon_393_-_Assassin:_Executioner?pg=3 This is from the WotC forums about the feedback on the article. Looks like the REAL assassin isn't here yet which is a big sigh of relief.

    Essentials Assassin

Aside from getting rid of the broken infinite damage set up, they butchered the class. I highly suggest e-mailing WotC. Maybe someone still has the PDF open and can update it before they dump it an forget it.

    Essentials Assassin

I gotta say, the really stripped down the play test version into this boring, semi-thought out, small scrap of features. It's a real shame that they had so many options in the play test and decided it should be boring. Oh well.... Back to playing the old assassin with an at-will teleport. At...

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

Well, you have to figure, by the time an average character has a theme, magic items, boons, grandmaster training, additions and subtractions due to background and character "fluff" (something I give bonuses and penalties for); play just gets convoluted. I like my players to have every options as...

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

Nearly everyone in my next campaign will be using Essentials in some shape or form and I love it. It's a great direction due to it just being cleaner, which gives us more options for customization.

Dark Feasting or weapon expertise for lvl 2 barbarian?

    Or William Murderface . . . (Metalocalypse reference. . . anyone?)

    Essentials are melee heavy

It's true. How interesting would chess be if all the pieces hung out behind pawns lobbing missiles at each other? At least in melee you get the added fun of pushing the pawns in the way.

Ashes of Athas, a new shared world Darksun campaign from Wizards

Very interesting. I look forward to finding out what this is.

Dark Feasting or weapon expertise for lvl 2 barbarian?

I'd say lose the Githzerai past life. The +2 to full blades is nice, but there's no other feats there. Revenants have an awful racial encounter power. I'd say switch into a race with a better racial. Go for something like Half-Orc for their encounter power. Add an extra d12 to choice attacks (or...

    Essentials are melee heavy

Maybe some people have campaigns in dungeons . . . Encounter design should be based on party design. Any inherent flaw in 4th edition is pretty much solved by its inherent strengths. Unfortunately it is just weighted that way, but it's fairly easy to balance. If a DM makes an encounter with a...

    Voting for Rarity?

Good job on missing the point entirely, buddy. Edit: Children are weak.

    Voting for Rarity?

I'm still not sure what the big deal about rarity is. If you're playing LFR, then yeah, it's an issue because that campaign has to use it. Other than that, it's more or less optional. I know the "buy" button in grayed out in the character builder, but it's not that hard to ignore rarity in it...

    Class Compendium Official Announcement

So they're reprinting the classes in PHB1 with the addition of Sneak Attack every turn and Miss Effects on Wizard Powers and this is some how an Essentials coup? Essentials books notwithstanding, those changes were going to happen. 4.5 happened when they changed the stealth rules 3 times or...

    Why can't Hybrid Warden/Shaman use Shields? D:

MiniFig, I think you have some concepts about the hybrid class a little mixed up. Your class is hybrid and a hybrid is two classes equally conjoined together. There's no primary class and one will never truly outweigh the other, as you will have to alternate between the two class's powers. There...

Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms previews? Any bones for the warlock?

Funny, I think it'll bear a resemblance to to the Non-E Assassin. A fullblade and curse damage. . . Hopefully not as frail. Though I'm in the minority of enjoying the Assassin (both old and new). I do look forward to seeing what the Hexblade is. Whatever it is (as it's not the Shadow power...

    Muay Thai D&D Character?

Personally. I'm not sure I really like the Monk the best Muay Thai character. You need a fairly high strength stat now that melee training Dex has been reduced. The brawler fighter, with the spiked gauntlet fluffed to ropes/bandages and the feat that ups the spiked gauntlet damage to 1d8. You'll...

    Assassin Feedback

This is an email I sent to WotC concerning the new Essentials Assassin. Keep in mind, I'm not a true numbers grinder, so there could have been things I missed and this is only for the Heroic tier in which I've played the character. League of Whispers At-wills. Bola Take down. For a Striker to...
