Damage of two types but immunity to one

If you take 25 fire and cold damage, and you have vulnerability(cold) 10, you take 35 damage. If you were immune to fire damage, you would still take 35 cold damage. In order to avoid damage, you need to have immunity to all of the keywords associated with the power. Taking acid/poison damage...

    D&D 3.x Helping a Former 3.5 Player Get 4e

Plays differently 4E plays really differently than 3E. I didn't think I'd like 4E until I played it. If Wizards did game days based around old modules they'd hook a lot more old gamers imo.

    Beginner DM needs help

First off, you are describing what sounds an awfully lot like a monster that used to be called an ogre mage and is now an oni. Check out oni in the Monster Manual. Regardless, let them assume what they want. It may take awhile for them to realize their misconception, but monster knowledge check...

    Purchasing Magic Items

Buying items Rule wise it is assumed PC's are buying or selling magic items. If they are selling and not buying, it sort of defies logic. Then again, they are making fire mystically appear and teleporting around. I don't let boon or artifacts be purchased. Also, nothing more than 4 levels...

Damage of two types but immunity to one

Cold damage and cold/fire damage are two different things. They are two different things in regards to resistance, I don't see any reason why based upon the above passage it would be inferred that they would be treated differently. You wouldn't take the cold damage but you would take the fire...

    Action Point Question

I wanted to disagree but... I wanted to disagree and say that you could in fact teleport, do a cool move, and then fall, but the rules just don't support it. You need to resolve the action and consquences of an action before moving on to the next one. At first, I thought of the argument of...

Damage of two types but immunity to one

If the character were being damaged by an attack that does fire and cold damage, and they were immune to cold damage, they would take the fire damage. Recently errata'd rules made it clear that characters making attacks with one keyword and using a weapon with another keyword had to choose one...

Stacking Eladrin Boots and two Eladrin Rings of Passage

The sidebar on that Incisive Dagger is really cool. I've always been tempted to stat the artifact version of it, and build a series of adventures based around it.

Damage of two types but immunity to one

It should be in the section on resistances, but the monster will take full damage.

Stacking Eladrin Boots and two Eladrin Rings of Passage

Per the RAW the additional squares of teleport are not a bonus. It would have to say something like "+2 item bonus to movement with all teleportation powers" or something.

    Throwing stuff

Goblin Throw Throwing a goblin... I don't have the book in front of me, but I would give the ogre artillery damage for whatever level he is at, and whatever damage is rolled for the PC, the goblin takes the same damage. Both are knocked prone upon hit.

    Let there be light!

Sunrods I don't think sunrods actual cast light, I think they just make it like there is sunlight shining but from not particular source. I think it would be pretty cool if it wasn't there. My swordmage/warlock has armor, I think it's called shadowdance armor, or something, that as a daily...

New player and even newer DM struggling with another player...

I would advise caution with this approach. Depending upon the "gifts" bestowed the party could become imbalanced as a result. Now, if they are getting extra treasure that the non-stealing PC's aren't getting, than this is a great solution to balancing things out, and it shows that they aren't...

Stacking Eladrin Boots and two Eladrin Rings of Passage

Exactly, rules as worded the items aren't provided "bonuses", even though they are bonuses. It's still less confusing than 3e grappling.

Stacking Eladrin Boots and two Eladrin Rings of Passage

    Yes These bonuses would stack.

Awesome This is a pretty cool idea.

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

Intelligence sums up mnemonic ability, reasoning, and learning ability. Maybe the PC reasons just fine, but has a severe learning disability, hampering their intelligence score. My low intelligence score PC's usually get a headache when they try to read and don't much like book learning...

New player and even newer DM struggling with another player...

I forgot to mention this, but the local thieve's guild probably won't put up with this for long. He can be sneaky all day, you can't outsneak a divination paid for with thieve's guild money. Crap should be raining down from all sides of your campaign world on this moron; hired assassins...

New player and even newer DM struggling with another player...

First of all, let's take a good look at our average PC's. They are basically violent killers that loot graves. The issue is with chaotic evil PC's, or chaotic stupid as they end up being. Just like a good PC's won't last long in an evil society performing openly good deeds, an evil PC won't...
