Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Whatever dude, agree to disagree. WotC actually does have a new game coming out, Exodus. It's a sci-fi game that does use the 5E engine. But it's hella innovative within that framework and I'm really excited about it. Can a product designed to work with or be compatible with D&D 5E be...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

While I don't think the idea of "big corporation" vs "small indie publisher" is a reliable bellwether of quality and innovation . . . the two facts of the WotC/Hasbro dynamic I do think holds the D&D team back. 1) Hasbro is a publicly traded company, with decisions driven by shareholder profits...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Everytime someone posts about what the older fans "want" . . . it rarely seems to match up with any of the older fans I know, IRL and here on the forums. When the post about what the younger fans "want" . . . it doesn't match up with any of my middle-school students who love D&D.

Eh, #notallfans. It's the really loud ones heralding doom, not the majority in any way. But yeah, I'm tired too.

What does it take for an RPG to die?

The third death . . . does that mean all of the players of the game are dead? Or, in the old-folks home . . . I just had a chill go up my spine!

Nope. NIN - Nine Inch Nails.

    Trailer Tron Ares trailer

He's not a bad guy . . . just a very weird guy. Very method, to the point of disturbing and irritating his castmates. He's not a bad actor, but overrated . . . well, Hollywood seems to love him, but many fans find him off-putting.

Mongoose Publishing Acquires Dark Conspiracy RPG

That was certainly true back in the day, I remember avoiding their products for that reason. Is it still true with their more recent stuff over the past few years?

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

True, no classic SRDs have been released into CC yet. Credit? As far as we know, WotC's intent has not changed, only their timeline. Credit is not due, certainly, but good thing no one is giving them credit for things they have not yet accomplished.

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

Yeah . . . this is why I get a bit triggered when folks start complaining about WotC breaking promises or commitments . . . the incident you mention was only one of many such incidents. Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't see the statement you linked as a "commitment" but rather a...

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

Your term above was "reneged" and your tone suggests you are upset they are breaking promises, commitments . . . WotC, of course, tried to revoke the OGL, then walked that back and released the 5.1 SRD into CC and announced they'd do the same for classic editions. Other than that, what is their...

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

You're not alone in your sentiment that WotC has somehow broken promises to fans . . . . but I've never understood this sentiment. They're late on the timeline they shared with us in your link. So? Life happens. I'll be concerned if at some point they publicly walk back that committment, or a...

Best superhero movie of all time? (Nominations thread)

I agree that swapping out the aliens for Dr. Manhattan was a huge mistake in the film . . . But I love it anyway, it's still one of my favorite superhero films. To the point where I'm struggling to watch the recent animated version on Max.

It's collectible. Some folks like to collect and care about the monetary value of individual cards and their collection. Doesn't make it predatory. I love the Professor's videos, even though I care very little for the monetary value of the cards I purchase. I do tend to avoid the ones like you...

D&D General Transgender Drow are Canon in Forgotten Realms! Woo!

I think you distinguishing between "contract" and "agreement" is making some large assumptions here. If Ed did have an agreement, or contract, with TSR stating that whatever he writes is canon until it isn't . . . then WotC most certainly does have to honor that contract. But really, how hard...

D&D General Dragon Delves To Feature Two Adventures "Appropriate For Solo Players"

Okay, time to take off that cursed tinfoil hat +1 you've been wearing . . . D&D has had a long history of supporting solo play, although it is mostly for the BECMI ruleset back in the 80s. Other publishers have experimented with this style of play over the years . . . either 1-on-1 DM & Player...

D&D General Dragon Delves To Feature Two Adventures "Appropriate For Solo Players"

As as a middle-schooler back in the 80s so shy I couldn't ask my equally nerdy friends to play D&D with me . . . I loved the solo modules TSR used to put out back in the day. I'm excited WotC is again experimenting with this style of play. I've noticed on the DMs Guild, there are several solo...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Unveils Dragon Delves' Eclectic Art Styles

Will some of those art pieces glow under a blacklight? :) Those would make some cool posters for my psychedelic basement game room in the 1980s!!
