    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Marilith Is Far More Bestial In 2025

I'm missing a lot of the conversation in this thread, due to the ignore feature, but . . . Who says demons (and other spirit creatures) don't breed? The official lore has varied on this, but demons can be, 1) created from the evil essence of the lower planes, 2) transformed souls, and 3) made...

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

I have a buddy who loves GURPS, has since college way back in the 90s . . . I have zero interest in playing GURPS. The game has been around for a long time and clearly has fans, it has withstood the test of time! I'm not even all that familiar with the game system, so I'm not even sure why I'm...

Sigil, Wizards of the Coast's VTT, Officially Launches

There were digital tools being developed for release with both 3E and then later 4E . . . a 3D VTT was definitely a part of the package for 4E, and I think 3E too . . . but, heck it's all vapor ware. :)

Sigil, Wizards of the Coast's VTT, Officially Launches

Now that I posted . . . was the 3D VTT supposed to debut with 3E or 4E? I sometimes get WotC's attempts at digtal tools confused . . . either way, 25 years or 17 years, it's been a while.

Sigil, Wizards of the Coast's VTT, Officially Launches

WotC had made decent progress on a 3D VTT to debut alongside THIRD EDITION way back in 2000 . . . . the fact it's taken about 25 years for anybody to bring a successful 3D VTT to market speaks to the difficulty of the task.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

Calm down. A man has passed, a complicated man with flaws and strengths. Of all the fan sites on interwebs, the moderation here at ENWorld is the best there is. I am not a fan of Ernie Gygax, also don't have the energy to hate him, and fully support the mods asking us reasonable things like...

Pathfinder Gets A New CRPG...Sort Of

Thanks for digging up the quote, I'll have to give that to you. It wasn't part of the narrative when Larian first dropped the news they weren't doing more D&D games, but clearly it's come up in later interviews. But . . . I'm still not buying into the idea that Pathfinder is any more or less...

Pathfinder Gets A New CRPG...Sort Of

That is most definitely NOT why Larian isn't going to be making DLC for Baldur's Gate 3 or any future D&D titles. According to Larian CEO Sven Vincke, they simply want to move on and do new things. And how is Pathfinder any more or less "limiting" than D&D 5E when it comes to CRPG adaptations?

Sigil, Wizards of the Coast's VTT, Officially Launches

Live, but open beta. I had just received my alpha test codes about a week before, which is kinda funny. The tool is still in development. This is normal for video games, and this is being developed very similarly to a video game. It's fine.

Sigil, Wizards of the Coast's VTT, Officially Launches

Well, nevermind . . . as soon as I posted, the update finally went through and the installer completed! Just poked around a bit tonight . . . building maps was fun, but that's not really what I want. I want a complete set of maps for all Curse of Strahd encounters (for example) so that I can...

I can't get the installer to complete the installation . . . it gets stuck on "Update" and I can't launch the app. :(

Pathfinder Gets A New CRPG...Sort Of

Does the ORC license, intentionally or otherwise, allow for computer adaptations? I know that wasn't the intent of the OGL, but we ended up with Solasta anyway. One of the reasons WotC got cranky and tried to disappear the OGL (IMO) . . . I'll cautiously look forward this, as CRPGs are my...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Marilith Is Far More Bestial In 2025

Really? Seems on point. Six arms, humanoid torso, snaky below the waist. Seems very marilith to me.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Marilith Is Far More Bestial In 2025

I'm not a fan of the new art, the specific new art piece . . . but I'm totally alright with a more monstrous take on the marilith. I love the classic marilith look, I'm cool with the new marilith look. I find it amusing how upset some folks get about changes in art direction like this. I mean...

D&D General Teased Lorwyn-Shadowmoor Supplement Crosses Magic: the Gathering and D&D

If you didn't care for the Phyrexian invasion plot line, that's fair . . . but a lot of folks really liked it, myself included. RPG settings with metaplots can be problematic as we learned in the 90s . . . but Magic settings are different, as each new Magic release strives to be different from...

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

@Retreater isn't wrong. PDFs are the default for most RPG digital books, but . . . I don't mind reading a PDF book on my tablet or computer . . . but trying to navigate one easily to look up rules during a game? That sucks. I'm running an LotR 5E game right now, and even though I have all of...

Silicone Dice - What're They Like?

I saw some "dragonscale" silicone dice in Barnes & Noble a short while back . . . they looked neat in the packaging, but I didn't want to blow $20 on curiosity (not that I haven't done so before, too many times). Here's a link to what I'm talking about from FanRoll . . . although I don't think...

D&D General Teased Lorwyn-Shadowmoor Supplement Crosses Magic: the Gathering and D&D

You have WotC's sales data? Are you a store owner? If you have data on how well these books sold in your store . . . that doesn't really say much of anything towards how well they sold overall.

    Guns & Gears Remastered Review

Those are POD (print-on-demand) books you were trying to order. So, yeah, gonna be more expensive than picking up the latest mass-printed hardcover from Amazon. I can't afford to drop that much on Baker's books either, but not because this hobby is "overpriced". I am enjoying the digital copies...

D&D General Teased Lorwyn-Shadowmoor Supplement Crosses Magic: the Gathering and D&D

Okay. I'm glad WotC is "wasting" their resources on this. As a fan of D&D and Magic, I'm looking forward to Lorwyn being adapted to the D&D game.
