D&D 5E (2014) What OGL 5E products are you the most interested in?

In the survey WotC just put out, where they asked Box or Book, I put "Digital." Seems like they're stuck in the 1970s. Digital isn't even something they consider which is ironic considering the medium the survey is done on.

D&D 5E (2014) You Roll Low, Nothing Happens. Can this/should this be changed?

This isn't true. There is no reason you couldn't have shot the orc in the face and done regular damage. A graze on the cheek and a graze on the shoulder can be a similar damage hit. What you're ACTUALLY saying is "I shoot the orc for lots of bonus damage!" In situations where the orc is...

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

There are a couple options... kill your character, then when you make the new one you get your pick of magic items, OR play in the official adventurer's league where you get to pick your items. The lack of magic item economy in the DMG pretty much comes down to WotC not bothering to spend...

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

Bilbo didn't get into enough fights to make it to 3rd level. At the rate he was literally being handed and tripping over magic items he'd have had several hundred by 20th level.

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

Of course your strawman isn't reasonable, you made it as idiotic and unrelated to the argument as you possibly could.

D&D 5E (2014) What OGL 5E products are you the most interested in?

Clean up the Rules Cyclopedia, slap some art in there, call it 5.5E.

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

In general it would be extremely irrational to assume magic items cannot be sold as they are very valuable, very useful and at the prices listed in the DMG, they are dirt cheap. Any NPC with 100 GP on their hands would buy an uncommon from you without a second thought. They would be a complete...

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolf Damage Immunity Question

Not sure what spell you're referring to, but there are significant differences between an arrow and a raindrop that could easily explain why it treats them differently. However there is very little difference between a rock falling off a cliff or hurled by a trap and the same rock thrown by a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolf Damage Immunity Question

I wouldn't. I heavily houserule around absurdities like this and keeping your dex bonus while unconscious.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wood Elf Monks

With a 50% success rate, I'm going to guess around 2.5% of the time. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolf Damage Immunity Question

If the stone was thrown, it isn't, because they would both be weapon attacks and wouldn't hurt the lycanthrope unless they were silver or magic. If the stone just happened to fall off a cliff then it isn't a weapon attack so isn't the same and can hurt a lycanthrope.

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolf Damage Immunity Question

Only in were form, and in were form 1E lycanthropes are NPCs. They also don't gain XP while in form. Being a lycanthrope is pretty much all negatives in 1E, in 5E it's pure benefit and something every character should strive to attain.

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolf Damage Immunity Question

Letting a PC be immune to most threats is a giant clusterf. Your best option is to change 5E's lycanthropy to not give damage immunity and having it work like any other edition's would be better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Minimum ability scores for a PC

One of the many differences between PCs and monsters is that a monster never goes below 0. If they have -3 from STR and 1 from proficiency, they end up with 0, not -2. I think this is due to them trying to (and almost successfully) completely eliminate subtraction from the game in an attempt...

D&D 5E (2014) Does Anybody Else Seriously Love the Monster Manual? My Thoughts on the MM.

It is high on art and low on content, having less monsters than we're accustomed to and lacking the awesome customization we got in 3E with templates, feats and the like, and ability to use monsters as player races. The monsters themselves are are light on options making them pretty...

D&D 5E (2014) RAKSASHA (Limited Magic Immunity) X Empyrean (Bolt)

Generally when I pay a professional to do work for me I expect to not have to correct their mistakes. If I have to, I hired the wrong one.

D&D 5E (2014) RAKSASHA (Limited Magic Immunity) X Empyrean (Bolt)

That is okay in everyone's game. Eldritch Blast is the main attack for Warlocks and your 20th level Warlock is pretty much SOL against Tiamat's magic immunity. 5E has resistance and immunity all over the place, it is what it is.

D&D 5E (2014) RAKSASHA (Limited Magic Immunity) X Empyrean (Bolt)

If you look at the Cambion, it gets it's DEX to it's spell attack even though it has the same Innate Spellcasting ability the Empyrean has, so the system isn't treating it as a spell. But the Cambion could just be a misprint because the Empyrean is using it's CHR, it's innate spellcasting...

D&D 5E (2014) Analysis of "Typical" Magic Item Distribution

You're the only one mentioning +3 weapons. The post I responded to made no mention of it, neither did I. This seems overly personal. As for not handing them out... the magic weapons being handed out in the published adventures and in official play are BETTER than +3. YOU are welcome to not...

D&D 5E (2014) Analysis of "Typical" Magic Item Distribution

It is built into the math of the game and it does assume the players will have this stuff. Monsters requiring magic weapons for full damage are very common but they receive no penalty from having such a potentially powerful ability due to the fact that parties are assumed to be carrying the...
