    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Costs in 5E

Pawn shops have no use for anything they buy except to resell and make money off them. In a dangerous world full of monsters is there demand for literally magic items that can improve your odds of you and your family not dying to those monsters? Uh... yes. Yes there is. The demand for magic...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e death and consequences?

It's like you haven't even HEARD of the game. You know these things called clerics that can get you back from the dead in under 6 seconds in the middle of combat at level 5 so you don't even miss your turn, literally no consequences... you know these things exist right? Pretty sure the troll...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e death and consequences?

Revivify is 300 gp and clerics can get it at level 5. Death isn't meant to have a consequence. If you want it to, you might want to consider changing the critical hit rules, otherwise those bulettes your level 5 party is fighting that can crit for 100 damage are a little too much like random...

D&D 5E (2014) If party short rests in a dungeon room

It wasn't covered in the playtest either. Generally most DMs won't want to have additional encounters as it will just slow down the overall campaign. Random encounters during rest are good to put in to increase the challenge if you feel your players need more challenge and leave out if they don't.

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Costs in 5E

Yes, it's exactly like the Lamborghini. They sell every single car they make and they have a 2-year waiting list. Apparently $400,000 was too low of a price for them to ask for a car that is less comfortable, burns way more gas, takes 2 years to deliver and won't get you from point A to point...

D&D 5E (2014) Six Casters Casting Enhance Ability on Same Target Creature?

The rule is spell, not spell effect, so no, you couldn't do that. If the DMG allows rules for making your own spell, then yes, you could make 6 different versions of the enhance ability spell and that would then work. Of course if you could do that you'd just make 6 variations of the bless...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Costs in 5E

10 items, any one of which "only the wealthiest nobles could afford". Yes, that is ludicrous. The supply is obviously far too high for it to fit that sort of description of their worth. To match "only the wealthiest nobles could afford" would put maybe 8 items in the hands of the party, if...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you concentrate on a spell while resting?

Any part of a rest within 24 hours of the last one ending gives no benefit. A long rest is 8 hours, not 1 second of massively intense rest preceded by 7:59:59 of something that has no benefit.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

Defensive Duelist is only a single attack anyway, blech. But if you're allow staff of defense then you're also talking things like +5 AC from the mask from HotDQ, Ring of Protection's +1 etc. These are all low level items too, it's tough to say what sort of bonuses we're going to be seeing on...

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

You can keep believing that, despite the only number mattering on your d20 being the 1 or the 20, you still have bounded accuracy. I, however, am aware of what that actually means.

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Costs in 5E

So the ludicrous haul of magic items from the starter and HotDQ would make the party so fabulously wealthy after kings and queens hand over half their kingdoms they have literal armies (of bounded accuracy effective amirite) of soldiers to go out and procure them more. Sorry, that doesn't work...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you concentrate on a spell while resting?

Most sleep isn't a long rest either. You can't even begin your long rest until at least 24 hours after the last one ended, so either most of your sleep time isn't going to be a long rest, or your days are going to be over 32 hours long. Guess the planet D&D is set on rotates slower.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

It's very easy to temporarily get a bonus that will hit anything in the game on a 2+ and not hard to get a 90% hit rate the majority of the time on the majority of the monsters. And that is with only a handful of magic items and no splat books out yet! As more spells, abilities and magic items...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you concentrate on a spell while resting?

You've proved my point. You just said yourself rogues use it for exactly what I said. Who else uses it much if at all? No one. I've literally never seen it used for anything but to charge in because it isn't worth using otherwise.

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

You must have some mighty quick combats. Since an attack and damage roll would also only be a few seconds per round you must get your combats over in under 2 minutes! So rolling for haste getting dispelled every single hit in 5E and accounting for it is "seconds", but getting debuffed in 3E...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you concentrate on a spell while resting?

Sleeping is NOT required during a long rest, you can maintain a spell through it. Don't use the ability's name as a hint on how it works, because it isn't. It is natural to assume the names of the powers mean something like in some previous editions that were more simulation focused where that...

D&D 5E (2014) Encounter Building math: or I killed 2 PCs last night.

The guidelines are a joke. Monsters of the same XP can be dramatically different threats. They've done a horrible job balancing how tough something is to it's XP and the XP is the only value being used for balance.

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

Instead every time anyone in the party gets hit they have to make a con save. EVERY TIME. Some combats would literally go twice as fast without this mechanic. I'd far rather have buff rounds because you can just say "this is what we do, done" in 5 seconds.

    D&D 5E (2014) Optimal Multiclassing

Just your stat and feat progress... because horrible rules. Making these class abilities rather than level abilities was so stupid. Rarrr, I'm a pure paladin, I'm stronger than the barbarian/fighter/paladin because stupid rules, rarrr!
