    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Illusion question

A wall that doesn't block light and doesn't create light is called a window. Actually it isn't, a window still refracts light and blocks some light. A wall that doesn't block or create light is called invisible. A spell that creates invisible images isn't much of a spell. I can cast that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Evasive Footwork???

Has anyone even asked? I don't see confusion. On a roll that doesn't suck it makes you practically impossible to be hit during your movement without having to waste your action on the disengage action when you charge in. Normally things will say "until end of turn" but this time they said...

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Creating Monster Disparity

Fewer monsters will mean fewer actions for team monster. The number of actions is a multiplier on team monster's damage output. So having less monsters will greatly decrease the threat which will lead to a slog. 4E tried to deal with this a bit by having the monster change at half HPs and...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

Sadly not only is extra attack a class feature but so is ability score increases/feats so a MC character tends to have lower stats and be weaker/slower/dumber/uglier than non-MC characters. Such poor design, ugh.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

If you're going with fluff as an argument then spontaneously becoming a different type of class, such as boom, suddenly being able to cast spells for an eldritch knight, is very much an apprentice tier thing. As for power levels, no, extra attack and your cantrip doubling has a FAR bigger power...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

5 is when extra attack and 2nd die of damage for cantrips kicks in for non-multiclass characters and there is a huge discontinuity in the character power curve.

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Creating Monster Disparity

It's not just HP, but the Attack Bonus. A level 1 and under should be +3 according to the DMG, but all CR 1s and many CR 1/2 are +4 or +5 with the exception of the harpy which has a powerful charm attack.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

Ewww, you role-play with a tabletop? How flat. Apprentice tier is levels 1-4, not 1-2. Many people like skipping the first 2 levels, many like skipping the first 3 or 4.

    D&D 5E (2014) Battle master combat maneuvers

The superiority die is added to the damage on a hit. It will also be a bigger benefit if the normal weapon damage is higher and d6+4 is on the very low end. Flaming weapons, hunter's mark, sneak attack dice, rage damage bonus etc. can all make riposte a big DPS boost.

    D&D 5E (2014) Battle master combat maneuvers

Yeah, and the 29 AC the fighter can get from that at level 3 would mean almost anything up to challenge 9 and half the monsters at challenge 10 would need a 20 to hit, challenge 11 and 12 would mostly need a 19 to hit. Even an average roll on a d8 means most things through challenge 6 would...

    D&D 5E (2014) Battle master combat maneuvers

I'm not so sure giving up to +12 to AC for running around in circles for an entire combat is within the spirit of many games, but if you think it is right in 5E's wheelhouse, who am I to argue. I'm sure the absurdity of running in circles won't put off high level fighters from enjoying being...

    D&D 5E (2014) Battle master combat maneuvers

You would never not have this ability on then. It's pretty obvious it's meant to increase your AC during a move action or similar action and ends at the end of the action. "Stopping" to open a door wouldn't end it, but ending the move action would.

D&D 5E (2014) How to Handle Monster Knowledge Checks

If a player knows about a fictional monster for a game, it would seem reasonable that a character would know about the actual monster that actually eats people and as an adventurer is their job to know about. When the bards come to the inn to entertain, stories of dragons would be like Star...

D&D 5E (2014) Dual wielding and improvised weapons. Technically broken?

It doesn't really. That is why things like brass knuckles exist.

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Illusion question

I'm not sure why you're insisting on comparing this to darkness, it is nothing like it. The 5x5x5 cube being one. Moving is another. Yes, you can block a torch that happens to be in a 5x5x5 cube, but ray of frost can just as easily put that torch out, does that make ray of frost more powerful...

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

Pretty big size difference there for a normal sized kit, but I guess you could argue that halfling/gnome kits would be small so it would only be one size difference for them like a halfling using a normal sized kit would be.

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Illusion question

Then the box couldn't be seen from the inside as it wouldn't be reflecting light. If it was reflecting light at the proper intensity then none would be going through. The only way to have it both reflect the proper amount of light and transmit the light through would be if the image was making...

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Illusion question

Some spells trick the mind and won't work on "mindless" creatures. This isn't one of them, it says it creates an image. Regardless of if it's tricking the mind about what light is hitting the retina or if it's altering what light is hitting the retina, it will have the same effect...

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Illusion question

There isn't a contradiction. You see applying physics to a magical fireball makes no sense but expecting a fire set by a spell to generate heat is not applying physics to magic, right? In no way have I said all spells work the same. I have said that YOU are applying things to spell that...
