    D&D General 1s and 20s: D&D's Narrative Mechanics

It's always an issue when people aren't sure what the OP is exactly about. Again, it's why I stress the importance of terminology.

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

I mean .... all of it is silly :ROFLMAO:

    D&D General 1s and 20s: D&D's Narrative Mechanics

With TTRPGs: "Narrativist" refers to "telling a story" "Simulationist" refers to "simulating how physics works" "Gamist" refers to "playing a game using strategy to achieve victory conditions" I think these terms are agreeable?

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

The AD&D version was outstanding, but its descendants have been lackluster at best - mostly due to the fact that D&D can't simulate how assassination works with HP.

D&D General Psionic species and subspecies, will they make a comeback too?

There won't be many psychic races because the class delivers a lot of capability by itself.

D&D General Lego Sandbox vs Open Sandbox (and other sandbox discussion)

This approach only works with a strong Session 0 to make sure everyone is on the same page. Otherwise it can turn into #rpghorrorstory where several players are all trying to have a different RP experience. Not necessarily. You can't force players to enjoy a playstyle they do not like. Better...

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

I thought we were talking about ttrpgs and this spilled over into RL  Rather than go down the rabbit hole, I'll agree to disagree on assassins.

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

Wargaming isn't for everyone and yes, it can be very tedious. Not to the target :ROFLMAO: I'd check with the Brits on that :sneaky: I disagree. Sometimes. Depends on how well the information is controlled. Using locals is preferred by any foreign enemy: "It wasn't us - it was your guys!"...

D&D 5E (2024) How balanced would be this feat?

For the record, I'd play in a game allowing this feat just so my Ranger could dual-wield longbows :p

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

I thought we were focused on Fantasy, at least primarily. But, I'd add that assassins have had more than their fair share of duty in the modern world. The past is littered with assassinations, especially Roman leaders. One of the first lessons I learned in the military was, if the enemy is...

D&D General Psionic species and subspecies, will they make a comeback too?

I'd just run with a Goliath replacing 'Giant Ancestry' with a choice of one Wild Talent Feat.

D&D General How to DM, best resource

Myself. I have over twenty years of GM experience and most books don't explain the primacy of a GM. Robin's Laws of Good Game Mastering: explains the variety of ttrpg playstyles and how a GM can design campaigns that focus on them. World Builder's Guidebook: explains how to easily create...

D&D General Lego Sandbox vs Open Sandbox (and other sandbox discussion)

I love how everybody's trying to get the last word on what a railroad is :ROFLMAO:

D&D General Lego Sandbox vs Open Sandbox (and other sandbox discussion)

For the record, most campaigns/modules published by TSR, WotC, Paizo and Goodman Games are all classic sandboxes. Especially when you consider that the dungeon itself is usually a sandbox. You're already turned around here: the OP describes "open sandbox" as "not planned in advance" and you say...

Adventures and supplements based on high society or nobility?

I ran Council of Thieves years ago and it's all about political intrigue: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/336398/pathfinder-adventure-path-25-the-bastards-of-erebus-council-of-thieves-1-of-6-pf1

D&D General Psionic species and subspecies, will they make a comeback too?

5e already brought back the Ghostwise Halflings and Half-Giants (Goliaths). I'd like to see a Human variant (natural Psychic)
  18. Theory of Games

D&D General Lego Sandbox vs Open Sandbox (and other sandbox discussion)

Terminology is everything: https://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/662/what-is-sandbox-play Here, "Lego " and "Open" sandboxes are fundamentally the same because with both the GM comes up with ideas and the players choose which idea to interact with. The key difference is "Lego" sandboxes...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

PF's Occult Classes are just better, but the Psion looks like it would be fun to play regardless

    Let's Talk About Short Campaigns

We clearly disagree on the topic and that's fine. I wrote my opinion in a clear, non-derogatory manner. For your understanding, I'll post a link explaining what playtesting is: https://storybrewersroleplaying.com/2019/11/25/playtesting-your-tabletop-rpg/?v=0b3b97fa6688 Also, a "TTRPG campaign"...
