    Rate WotC as a company

You know, I rated them a 3, but not for all the reasons some might think. Outside of their RPG division, I have had nothing but positive experience with WotC. Recently I bought a copy of Heroscape Master Set 2. I discovered that one of the figures was missing. I called them up (WotC handles...

D&D 4E Anyone know if KQ is going 4e?

The last time I checked the KQ forums Mr. Bauer looks to be moving away from supporting D&D 4e. Since the GSL would prevent him from offering both OGL and GSL material together, and since most of his audience wants support of D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, I doubt he will be supporting D&D 4e any time...

    D&D 4E Issues with 4e character sheets...Not cool WotC...just not cool...

You know, I have to say this is a pretty shoddy product and rather poor Customer Service from WotC. A set of character sheets should at least contain enough to do the game-dictated default number of characters. In order to use these sheets for a full party you would have to get, at a minimum...

Errata: What you don't know, won't hurt you?

You know, back in the day of Fidonet and GEnie I managed to get hold of the errata for MegaTraveller. For those not in the know, the printing of MegaTraveller was pretty flaky to say the least. Some tables were missing, or had the completely wrong information on them. Sometimes something...

    Six hour combats

I am willing to say that it is a play style issue. I run a party of nine players for game sessions that run from noon to 6pm with a half hour to an hour dinner break. During a typical game session we can see as many as four really good combats take place. This is interlaced with periods of...

Have you bought the 4E PDFs?

I have to answer an emphatic no for purchasing the pdfs. Why? I don't like the current edition. I think the pdfs are overpriced by about $10. I do all of my game writing with a pen and paper, so cut & paste is meaningless to me. I wish I could get a couple of the 3e books as pdfs at a...

Desperate times, desperate measures, I need help people, please.

If I were in a position to be of assistance, I would gladly do so. However, I have been unemployed since February. I know how hard it can be using up your dwindling resources, not knowing when, or if, more will come in. About all I can send you now are positive thoughts and the hope that you...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

If you read my message carefully, you will see that I am not blaming anyone in it. I am merely stating why some people would be upset at the cost of the pdfs. Heck, the first line of the message you quote says, "While I respect your assertion that the cost of the pdf is not out of line with...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

I'll be honest with you, I have not ever bought a pdf from WotC, White Wolf, or any of the other large game companies except Steve Jackson Games. Even those were bought quite a few years ago. I do not know what their previous policy was. I was going under the assumption that they were...

    EN World Home Page

I am mostly indifferent. I do admit though, it is a bit harder to find the new news articles. I make sure to check the date in the upper right corner of each news blurb to make sure it is new. Otherwise, I am rather ho-hum about it.

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

Scott, as I said, I just thought it was a mistake to offer the pdfs without the errata. Since the errata was known and posted at the WotC site several weeks before the pdfs were offered for sale, one would have naturally assumed that the new pdfs would incorporate the known errata. Since the...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

Scott, I must say, this is a point where I feel you have really dropped the ball. A pdf can usually be updated quickly and easily. I know this because it is what I used to do for part of my last job. As long as the fixes are minor and do not cause changes in page breaks and the like, I can't...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

Scott, thanks for replying to this thread, I know there's a lot of heated talk about this topic. It's pretty brave of you to come in here with all the anti-WotC sentiment here. While I respect your assertion that the cost of the pdf is not out of line with the production costs and profit...

    Changeover poll

I voted that we have not played 4e and are going to be playing an earlier edition. I read through 4e and found I did not like it and would not run it. A couple of others have skimmed 4e and none of them are interested. Since I am the only one willing to run a game right now, that means we...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

Well, let me start with portability. I run all of my games from my home, so portability means bringing things from downstairs to upstairs. Plus, a book is more portable when I want to read it in bed, or on the john, or anywhere that is not right in front of my desktop. I can only read a pdf...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

To be perfectly honest, no I would not. I personally feel that a pdf of a physical book should never cost more than half of the physical book's cost. So, in this case, I think the 4e PH pdf should cost no more than $17.50. The current cost of $24.95 is outrageous, and I know I will not pay it.

Dragons: how do they carry treasure?

I always figured that dragons used something like matched teleportation rings, or maybe a specialized Gate spell, or used minions to haul their treasure. Or, perhaps, they have an innate magical ability to temporarily create extra-dimensional spaces to haul treasure. Otherwise I never actually...

Advice on Being a Good Player

It may seem like it shouldn't be mentioned, but this one is important. Before you go to a game, please, for the love of all you find holy, take a shower and put on clean clothes. Not your cleanest dirty clothes, but clothes that have seen the inside of a washer and dryer since they were last...

Goodman is clearly going to the GSL.

Well, since the d20 license was more restrictive than the OGL, wouldn't just removing the d20 logo from the book be sufficient for a retcon? It's a shame that they are going this route. I was just getting interested in the DCC modules when I recently lost my job. So, buying up modules is not...

Out of Print games You Miss...

I don't miss it because I own just about every version of it! Heck, I have even had the chance to play the game with Professor Barker on a number of occasions. I still read it from time to time as inspiration for just about any game I run.
