    animate objects and dead creatures

From the Player's Handbook Notice it does not mention that sizes are different for creatures and objects. There is only one set of size categories not two. So, while the specific size descriptions only mention creatures, they also apply to objects. Ciao Dave

    animate objects and dead creatures

Though I would probably go with a hardness of 2 (leather); the special material, dragonhide, has a hardness of 10. Ciao Dave

    Pounce

Unless you have advanced the leopard, no. I am assuming you replaced Alertness with Multiattack. The Leopard has BAB +2, Weapon Finesse, and Dex +4 for +6/+4 attacks with Multiattack. So it would be: (and +2 for the charge to all) +6 Bite (1d6+3) +4 Claw (1d3+1) +4 Claw (1d3+1) +6 Rake (1d3+1)...

A new look at the beholder

Primary natural attacks: Full BAB to attacks and 1xStr mod to damage. Only one primary natural attack: Full BAB to attacks and 1.5x Str mod to damage. Secondary natural attacks (all): BAB-5 (-2 multiattack) and .5x Str mod to damage. Primary natural attack used as a secondary natural attack...

A new look at the beholder

Ah, I forgot about screen (actually, I thought it only applied to scrying not to actual sight; so I discarded it immediately as an option). Planar traits, eh, well I guess that could work, too. BTW, which eye ray crit special are you going with on this beholder: Cha-based or Con-based? Ciao...

A new look at the beholder

The save DCs for the special critical effects should be 28 instead of 22 if the ability is Constitution-based. [10 + 11(half HD) + 7 (Con Bonus)] = 28 Not to trash your encounter, just to clear up some things I think you missed: The beholder's flight is Ex and cannot be dispelled or suppressed...

Humans - the missing monster entry for the MM

I notice that the Swim skill automatically assumes that the light shield is loosed. But wouldn't the penalty still apply for the first move action in the first round of swimming? Ciao Dave

HELP: Do Damaged flying creatures lose ability to fly?

I believe that rule is from 2e or earlier. I remember it too but was unable to find anything about it anywhere in the SRD. As I recall, there were two levels: must glide to ground and crash to ground but I don't recall the specifics except that it only applied to winged creatures. Ciao Dave

    Spring Attack and Improved Feint

The only way I could see it working is with the Hustle psionic power that gives you an extra Move action for the cost of a swift action. Hustle, move 5 ft+, improved feint, attack, move 5 ft+ Not sure if you could use a move action in the middle of a move action though. Ciao Dave

    Small Creature's Mount: Equipment Question

That is the same conclusion I came up with for the game last night (gnomes on dogs). Thank you for replying. Ciao Dave

    Are 3 Armor Classes enough?

Personally, I've been playing usually weekly for 29 years. My players, though, do have less time playing than I (15 years, 12 years, 1 year, and 22 years). We played tonight, and flatfooted touch AC came up. Surprise round, Touch spell against a flatfooted opponent: touch AC - dodge and...

    Are 3 Armor Classes enough?

Generally, every character sheet has a place for 3 different AC's: normal, touch, and flat-footed. Has anyone else found the need for more? Here are the ones that come up IMC with distressing regularity (including the ones on the character sheet). 1. AC: armor, deflection, Dexterity, dodge...

    Small Creature's Mount: Equipment Question

If saddlebags cost 4 gp and weigh 8 lbs. for a Large mount like a horse; how much do they cost and weigh for a Medium mount like a pony? a.) same price and 1/4 weight as for Clothes and Gear (also holds 1/4 the amount)? b.) 1/2 weight and 1/2 cost as for Weapons and Armor? c.) since it is...

    Crafting weapons questions.....

The 315 of the 2315 is for a masterwork longsword, already paid for by the free +2 enhancement. The resulting 2000 would add onto the 32000. So 32,000 + 2,000 = 34,000 - 8,000 = 26,000/2 = 13,000 +1,000 = 14,000 Ciao Dave But: adamantine must be added to a new weapon, not to one already made...

    WotBS WotBS - Counterspelling question

That has been one of the stumbling blocks to me making a counterspeller PrC. I like yours better, is it open content and if so where could it be found (Section 15 details, please)? Ciao Dave

    WotBS WotBS - Counterspelling question

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Reactive Counterspelling feat is from Player's Guide to Faerun which is all closed content. I hope you got permission to use their feat. Ciao Dave

    Staple 1st-level spells for wizards

DC 25 at 1st level can be pretty nigh impossible. I once had a party store nearly 10 potions unidentified before someone made that DC. That was a nightmare of paperwork for me (the DM) as also the rogue sometimes picked one at random and drank it in combat (from frustration: "okay, rogue, you...

Fortitude save spells that can affect undead?

In the SRD, the only other one I could think of is Remove Disease against a disease-carrying undead (pretty specialized, though). Ciao Dave

    Buying 'augmented' alchemical items

Not only does the feat not need to be epic; the items are so useless at epic levels, what epic character would ever spend time to make them or buy them? A sunrod that lasts 12 hours instead of 6 (cost: 10 gp) Antitoxin that gives you a +5 alchemical bonus vs. poison for 2 hours instead of 1...
