    D&D 5E (2024) Why No Monster Creation Rules in D&D 2024?

They did, but the fact that they were not present in the DMG and the MM--along their comments--seems to point out to either they're still fleshing them out for player use, or likely something to include for an updated XGE/TCE book Keep in mind, the focus of the 2024 revision was streamlining...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why No Monster Creation Rules in D&D 2024?

AlphaStream published his video comparison of the 2024 MM stats vs 2014 DMG monster creation stats vs 2014 MM and Forge of Foes creation rules (complete with spreadsheets). It's an hour long video, but I encourage people to watch and make their own conclusions. Regarding 2024 not including...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

Actually makes sense when the new Eberron supplement will include an updated version of the Khoravar as a PC, yet there are no half-elves in the 2024 core books

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Actually, it's on the 1-hour MM video last week where JC explained that in 2014 CR was calculated based on using the monster's stats and its most dangerous output option (attack, action, etc). In the same video, he explained the new CR now works by no matter what option you use in the statblock...

D&D 5E (2024) Expectations for Thursday Monstrosities video?

Expectations? WotC finally includes the False Hydra as an official D&D monster in this category like the homebrew version. Reality? Not gonna happen, but one can dream...

    D&D General Ideas for a three-hour low-level Thanksgiving adventure?

Not exactly an adventure, but should give you an idea for a Thanksgiving adventure. https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1851-lets-prepare-an-adventure-using-the-2024-dungeon And, with a name like Gobblor The Roast Lord, what's not to like? :ROFLMAO:

D&D 5E (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

Ouch, someone in KP got spanked for being bad. Nevertheless, good call on their part; they realized they f'ed up and owned up to it.

D&D 5E (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

Passive-aggressiveness aside, I would have been more inclined to accept the "review" if the DMG had been propped up with false advertising, but WotC was very clear through multiple videos as to what it was: a guide for newer DMs primarily. Yet the author knowingly bashes a beginner friendly book...

D&D 5E (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

It looks even more petty when you have Chris Perkins specifically say on one of the marketing videos that one of the goals with the inclusion of Greyhawk was a "show...don't tell" approach to build a campaign.

D&D 5E (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

Yep. Both Chris Perkins and James Wyatt were very clear in those videos that the new DMG was primarily meant to onboard new DMs and those that wanted to try their hand at being a DM, but that experienced DMs could also benefit from it.

D&D General A Quick Peek At Tiamat In Amazon's 'Secret Level' Anthology TV Show

I've been following Exodus for about 8 months, and I believe it's going to be a good successor to Mass Effect. Also, there's a prequel novel by Peter Hamilton called Exodus: The Archimedes Engine that does a lot of world building for the setting. The author is also a consultant for the game.

Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

Isn't the Scarlet Brotherhood a KKK expy? From the religious connotations to the clothing, symbols and beliefs? The only thing they share with the Nazis is the takeover of a nation

Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I didn't get to that, but that's textbook example of chauvinism

Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I started reading it then dropped it because you can almost hear the condescending tone of the author while reading it. Sure, there are changes that cause friction in continuity, but the problem is that the old Greyhawk had many problematic elements, and WotC tried to move away from them. I at...

Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

Also, there's no Campaign guide for FR in 5E, and there have been people asking for one for years. It's also the most developed setting by WotC and it's author Ed Greenwood

    D&D 5E (2024) Adjusting Difficulty

Seems you took those from the Scions of EE, but there are more stat blocks there that are more dangerous. There's about 25 statblocks for enemy creatures that we have access to from the PHB and the free 2024 adventures released and if you notice many monsters have had their HP and abilities...

D&D 5E (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

The sample adventures are pretty decent, and should be a good example on pacing for an adventuring day

D&D 5E (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

Pathfinder and Tales of the Valiant would like to disagree on this. And sure, you can say because it's Paizo, a direct WotC competitor, but Call of Cthulhu has the Keeper Rulebook, which is their DMG. Drakkenheim series also follow this, and they're 5E (two books with a MM in development).

D&D 5E (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

And the thing is, you can still use the cut content from 2014 if you really want to and should be compatible with some tweaks. For example, I know people--specially experienced DMs--bemoan that the in-depth monster creation rules aren't in the new DMG, but a new DM will probably not go out of...

D&D 5E (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

I specifically remember Chris Perkins in one of WotC's videos say that very same expression: show not tell. He said the create campaign chapter provided guidelines, but rather than tell you how build one detail by detail, they would use the Greyhawk setting to show an example of what you need to...
