D&D 5E (2024) What’s the difference between sorcerers, warlocks, and wizards?

It really feels like WoTC went crazy with CHA casters once they made the Sorcerer back in 3e. I would rather have the Warlock be an INT caster. Or even change the Sorcerer to a CON caster. Also, back in 3.5 I felt that the Dread Necromancer should have been an INT caster but they got slotted...

    D&D 3.x Still playing 3e? Share your 3.0 and/or 3.5 house rules

I would let Sorcerers "research" new spells in between levels so when they gained a new spell they could get the new spell they were researching for free. So a players tells me they want their Sorcerer to make a spell to polymorph their arm into a weapon that attacks at 3/4th BAB for 1/round a...

I would bring back Shapechanger being a main monster type instead of just a subtype. Why? Cuz I like it.

D&D 3.x 3rd Edition Revisited - Better play with the power of hindsight?

Yeah, 3.X, especially early 3.0 had some odd design choice for PrCs. Look at the Oozemaster for example, it is a 5/10 PrC meant for spellcasters, but no spellcaster is going to give up five caster levels. I would either just make it a full casting PrC or remove the casting requirement altogether...

    D&D 3.x Still playing 3e? Share your 3.0 and/or 3.5 house rules

I would fluff it as something like this... "The weakpoints in the negative energy in undead are constantly shifting around their body. For a long time nobody thought they had any weak points, until my order of Rangers figured out the timing and where these weak points shift around on their...

    D&D 3.x Still playing 3e? Share your 3.0 and/or 3.5 house rules

One thing I have been considering if I ever get around to running another 3.X game is to let Ranger's get critical hits on enemies who are normally immune to crits if it is their favored enemy. So, a Ranger with Undead as their favored enemy could crit undead, and a Ranger/Rogue multiclass could...

D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

I like PrC's, but the DM needs to enforce roleplaying restrictions on them. No taking four different PrCs, all meant for different campaign settings.

D&D General This and official D&D novels colored what D&D is for me.

EverQuest also colored my first experience with D&D (3E). It is also where I first encountered and fell in love with Tinkering Gnomes.

    D&D General Have Some Class

D&D 3.5: Master (With Gnomish Tinker PrC), as it is the best class that works with the Gnomish Contraption rules from Races of Ansalon.

D&D General 2nd edition player handbook class examples.

Yeah I feel that a lot of the given examples for a class are not the best. Especially for Magic Users seeing as how Vancian magic does not conform to how magic worked at all in Myths and Legends.

New idea for Toughness... Now it gives you max HP per level.

3.0 Weapon Sizing is superior. I would also let players use the "Monkey Grip" Feat from Sword and Fist to let them wield a weapon one size up in one hand or two sizes up in two hands with no penalty. Normally Monkey Grip lets a creature use a weapon one size category larger in one hand at a -2...
