Call of Cthulhu vs World of Darkness

Dread sounds interesting, but I would be hard pressed to play particularly seriously. I am a bit bad at pulling Jenga blocks out. For me, it would be like trying to play one of those old NES games that are legendarily difficult, not scary, just frustrating.

Empty Rooms, and what do they mean?

I always put a typewriter and a box for PCs to store items in in empty dungeon rooms. Oh, and no monsters can EVER get in the room, no matter what!:p

    Borders Bankruptcy Liquidation

I went to my local Borders a couple of days ago and it was pretty quiet. There were people shopping, but the store had put away all of their furniture (They were advertising that they were selling their furniture in fact) and the Cafe was closed. I did pick up a book, but there was not much else...

    Your intro to RPGs

It was the Summer of 2002 and I was 13 going on 14 and my brother asked me if I was interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons with one of his friends. He asked if I would rather play a Wizard or a Sorcerer, he explained the difference between them to me "Wizards get more spells, but can cast...

    "He's beyond my healing ability..."

Thread Hop When the PCs came across a dying Half-Orc who was part of an adventuring group that died in some ruins, the Cleric healed him. I was originally going to do the whole "Dying Words" thing, but instead I had him thank and give the PCs advice and then leave to the nearest town.

Do you REALLY run settings as "canon"?

I have no problem with altering any published setting as I see fit, be it Krynn, Abeir-Toril, or The Demiplane of Dread AKA Ravenloft.

Salvageable Innovations from 4e for Nonenthusiasts

I like the idea of At-Wills, Minions, and Solo encounters. Pathfinder kind of incorporated the idea of At-Wills with the various abilities that Sorcerers and Wizards get to do damage with magic in combat instead of having to pull out the crossbow. Solo encounters would be nice as it would be...

    No Planescape tag?

Is there any reason we do not have a Planescape tag? We have one for every other D&D setting it seems. Hehe, when I say "tag", I mean "prefix", like the "ENWorld" prefix this thread has.

    Planescape

Lol, I wonder why we do not have a Planescape tag... Anyways, I was wondering what peoples experiences with Planescape were. Positive or negative? Did you like or hate the cant? Etc.
