I'm getting deja-vu here of when folks were saying the Essentials Kit was not a main product, we'll get another book instead, and then that didn't happen. I mean, the Essentials was almost all new material. The new Stormwreck box I think will probably be almost all new material.

I don't know why we should consider Stormwreck an extra though. It's unlikely the D&D team considers it one, they have to make the thing.

Delays typically mean more delays. A movie delayed to December means that the studio's movie planned for December is also delayed, and so on. I imagine WotC doesn't like when too many products are released at once to cannibalize sales.

The D&D absolutely counted the Essentials Kit as a main product when they announced it. Perkins was its lead. Debatably, the Rick & Morty box was too as Kate Welch (who worked for D&D as a lead at the time) wrote that box too.

The dimensions look almost identical to another upcoming hardcover, Radiant Citadel. The item weight is almost certainly a placeholder though. Where is this idea of it being a slipcase coming from?

Looks like Kamigawa is getting minis. Could point to it getting a book, as if it's not I'm not sure the minis are useful for anything but collecting. Although, you could just use them anyway!
