    Medium character, huge bastard sword

Ask your DM. I believe the exact wording on monkey grip says that it's useable on weapon one size larger...so a strict reading might imply that it would be useless on a weapon two sizes larger... but that seems overly literalistic and not what the writer intended. The 3.5 FAQ (if desired)...

    Simulacrum

Yup Nope (although, it could be a useable quick-n-dirty option to avoid doing math, but the simulacrum should still look like the original dragon's age, else it wouldn't really be a simulacrum). Nope. For the easiest way to generate 1/2 HD stats for a monster, download Monsterforge and use the...

    Knowledge Checks

That seems reasonable, as both those skills requires actions. However, that method would not seem suitable for skill uses that do not require actions (examples: reactive uses of sense motive, spot, listen, etc.). If the adventure has specific information available for knowledge checks, the...

    Knowledge Checks

The former (i.e. typically, players do not need to declare that they are using knowledge skills). From the knowledge rules: "Action Usually none. In most cases, making a Knowledge check doesn’t take an action—you simply know the answer or you don’t."

Effectively, yes. Just one. Yup From the 3.5 FAQ (if desired):

    Animated tower shield?

It requires a command to become equipped. For almost all purposes, treat an animated shield as effectively simply giving you a third arm. However, equipping is one area that is technically different: - A regular shield requires the "Ready a shield" action (a move action) to become equipped. -...

How can my 12th sorcerer get acid for his Acid Rain Spell?

Well... 1) His suggestion seems similar to the first answer in this thread (as well a few others) 2) If the spell description actually says a "flask" of acid, then it would appear to be referencing a specific piece of gear in the Goods And Services section of the PHB. 3) Terry Pratchett once...

How long for Wizards to learn new spells?

I have never seen that. It does require one page in your spellbook per level... were you possibly thinking of that? Edit: nevermind: I misread mr_outsidevoice's answer as saying the same thing as the post above it (i.e. 1 day per spell level).

How long for Wizards to learn new spells?

2 days: Learning/understanding a new spell: 1 day (and a spellcraft check) Scribing it into your spellbook: "24 hours, regardless of the spell’s level" rules here

How can my 12th sorcerer get acid for his Acid Rain Spell?

It seems like acid would be one of the more easily obtainable material components (oozes, stomach acid, citrus, etc.), unless the spell is specifically refering to the 10gp acid flask from the goods and services table... even then, an ooze or most things with the swallow whole ability could...

Spoiler Alert! : About the pre-final battle of Red Hand of Doom

That reminds me: since it's an emanation, you could protect yourself from the unhallow by using a tower shield, portable (or un-shrunk) wall, wall spell, etc.

High Jump, bringing that X4 to DC down a bit, and falling damage.

    - Boots of striding and springing. - Jump spell - Haste (or anything else that increases your movement, like expeditious retreat) - Use you polearm as a pole vault (ask your DM for mechanics on this) - Use your spiked chain a grapnel

Spoiler Alert! : About the pre-final battle of Red Hand of Doom

When my party did it, I resorted to casting dispel magic (from the shaft) on the silence effect. From the 3.5 FAQ (if desired): "you can use dispel magic to end the duration of the spell effect tied to the hallow or unhallow"

    Mirror Image and Targeting

From the 3.5 FAQ (if desired): "For all intents and purposes, the figments from a foe’s mirror image spell are your foes. You aim your spells and your attacks at the figments just as though they were real creatures. Any spell you can aim at a creature you can aim at an image. When you use a...

    shield bonus & being flat-footed.

Nope. In D&D, you get your shield bonus to AC even if you are held, paralyzed, asleep, etc. Not saying it's realistic, merely that is how D&D handles it. There are odder things in D&D... combat is just handled abstractly, is all. Again, while denying them the bonus might seem 'realistic', it...

How to make 'being surrounded by enemy crossbowmen' deadlier?

As mentioned, your hypothetical situation is a common enough problem in D&D, and is a side effect of the system used. If I want my players to acquiesce, I can: 1) Ask them to play along 2) Threaten someone that can be take down easily: NPC, cohort, the mage (assuming everyone aims at him), etc...

How to make 'being surrounded by enemy crossbowmen' deadlier?

I reckon 1st level crossbowmen wouldn't be worth anything to 10th level characters anyways.

How to make 'being surrounded by enemy crossbowmen' deadlier?

He does? I just assumed he wants to be taken captive long enough to learn the BBEG's master plan (or least get the plot hook)... and then unleash the whupass.

Well, if your weapon glows then the closest area of shadowy illlumination would be 20' away ;)
