    Wild Shape 3.0

One creature per use of wildshape. Each use of wildshape can be a different creature, i.e. wolf the first time, cheetah the second, porpoise the third, etc. Only limitation is a fluff one that the PC should have at least some familiarity with the animal in question. That can often fall by the...

What makes Dragons so good ?

That tends to work. Some of the additional true dragons from supplements need an adjustment here or there due to particular abilities. Such as the Pyroclastic Dragon with its Save or Die breath weapon:) Yep the key is the Young Adult age category, this is where many of the true dragons get a...

What makes Dragons so good ?

I'm in agreement. By itself the Dragon HD is about 3/4 of a PC class. When you add the stat mods and special abilities it brings them into parity in the HD ranges that players are likely to be making PCs for. None of their abilities are ones that PCs can't get a hold of somehow. Many of them...

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

Which is where we differ, I go the other way around, the rules are the physics of the in-game universe and everyone live by those rules. That those rules produce a world very different from our own is the prime attraction.

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

Thanks for being reasonable about it, a lot of pre-4e people on these boards haven't. They just don't accept that 4e doesn't necessarily fit everybody's preferred playstyle. And it gets hackles raised by 3e people, especially when many of these same people were happy enough with 3e not so long...

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

I'm not necessarily the greatest at explaining myself. So I'll let this quote from I think Andor though I may be wrong explain my views on the issue since he said it better. The critical point is that the contents of the black box are not trying to simulate events, but enable outcomes. The 4E...

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

I just love being taken out of context, doesn't everyone? Especially by Comment removed. Don't insult people, even when they don't agree with you. ~PCat Not when you use mechanics that tell you the outcome of the action straight off. That is one of the reasons I dislike action points, they're...

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

That's because we're using the word narrative to define different activities. You're using forge terminology where I'm using narrative in a more common definition as an event history. For me the narrative emerges from the rules which describe what happened in-game. You don't narrate the end...

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

Which didn't actually cover the "taking their stuff" part at all. It totally divorced the treasure from the in-game world even more than previous editions. It just said from X encounters of difficulty Y you should get Z amount of stuff. And made the items you find a function of the PCs doing...

    Simulationists, Black Boxes, and 4e

In a game about killing things and taking their stuff, I damned well expect rules to facilitate the "taking its stuff" part. We're just a different sort of gamer and enjoy different sort of games. For me there ISN'T a narrative, the story is what comes out of play, not something you play to...

It's the one showing before the new Indiana Jones movie and Iron Man too in some theaters.

    Tweaked save/BAB progression

I know, you're solution does work better than mine and the two can be meshed fairly easily. I just have a completist bug that makes me want to find a way to make it work all the way through even if it doesn't look possible.

    I got a Wii!

Man the surgery for that must've been intense. But I don't want to hear about Wii's and kids in the same post, I'm sure that violates....something ;) Seriously. Good for you, looks like fun and it has a good game line-up. Me I can't afford to get one since gas prices went up and they're...

    4e Battle Music! My Dilemma.

Most of my group listens to mainstream rock at the hardest. It probably says something that I listen to the stuff so much I understand it as well as conversational English. TANGENT ALERT: You know I've listened to a LOT of metal and something has occurred to me. Metal is especially suited...

    4e Battle Music! My Dilemma.

They're not to everybody's taste, opinions will differ. I find Dragon Force to have a couple good songs but mostly be filler and a bit too commercialized. Rammstein is just too industrial now, some of their early stuff can be useful but not most of the recent stuff. Absolutely, I love the...

    Tweaked save/BAB progression

Yeah AC is really the one great Achilles heel of my attempts to rejigger the math. I can bring AB/Saves/ and even DCs back in line. But the one thing that I have tinkered with to no end is AC. No matter what I do I can't completely unify its mechanics with the other 3 and still retain a...

I've been giving bonus damage instead. It's kind of a toss up which one would work better.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [spoilers]

Nope plenty of similar scenes, and I realized what you were saying. For the most part I just flew along because they were cool scenes and that's what I'd come to see. The last, best Indy movie. Only exception really was the Nuke test scene. But I still had to call it out.
