Looking to run a WoT d20 game in Alexandria, VA (Newbies encouraged!)

Funny how these boards work... It's funny how these boards work. I stared at this thread for at least a few days, waiting to see if others were interested. No one was responding, so finally I just decided to reply and see what happens. Now people are coming out of the woodwork! Anyway, it...

Looking to run a WoT d20 game in Alexandria, VA (Newbies encouraged!)

Re: Re: Hello! Potentially, that could end up being a great campaign. I was sort of thinking of something along the same lines while I was driving home from work last night. Basically, the PCs don't neccessarily have to replace Rand, Perrin, Matt, etc... to run a successful campaign based on...

What I hate about A Song of Ice and Fire (Spoilers Ahead)

I don't mind dark and gritty, but I do tire of cheap shock value. I feel like Goodkind uses it a lot, and it's not particularly effective when someone tries to rape X character in every book, or children are consistently abused, or Y person has her nipple cut off, etc... I felt that Tad...

    Biased Reviews- Part 2

Well that seems to clear that up. Unfortunately, it looks like it was an unfortunate timing issue. However, I would like to throw in my support that reviewers should make it VERY obvious that they have a relationship/affiliation with a company when they are reviewing said company's products...

Human only campaigns - good? bad? tips? ideas?

Ask your players Only your players can really answer that question. If they don't warm up to it but you really want to do it anyway, I would suggest asking someone else to DM another campaign setting at the same time. Chances are most players would agree to trying yours out then.

Looking to run a WoT d20 game in Alexandria, VA (Newbies encouraged!)

Hello! I don't own the WoT RPG, but I have been playing some form of D&D since ~ 1986 and I have read the first 3 Jordan novels. I haven't really played any form of D20 since graduating college in 1999. If you can round up some more people, I'd be interested. I currently live on the...

What I hate about A Song of Ice and Fire (Spoilers Ahead)

Well thought out thread! Son_of_Thunder, for the most part I totally agree with you. By the time I reached Goodkind's third book, I actually had to put it down and took a 2 month break from it (the treatment of very young women and children are what got to me). I finished the book eventually...

What is the attraction of Dragonlance?

Comparing Martin to Weis & Hickman shows a poor grasp of their target markets, as they were OBVIOUSLY written for different age groups (Weis & Hickman being much more "age friendly"). That being said, comparing writers in general is a frivilous exercise of "My purely subjective opinion is...

At least Kenzer can get it right.

Re: Re: At least Kenzer can get it right. When you pay good money you expect a quality product. Sorry, but that's a completely legitimate beef he has. If it was free then I would agree with you, but that's a pretty obvious flaw. Regardless if it is the WotC or the printing company's fault...

What do you want to see in D20 Dragonlance?

As long as it has the wizards towers and orders... IMO, the Towers of High Sorcery and the different wizard orders was the best aspect of any campaign setting I have ever used. In fact, what made Dragonlance a memmorable setting for me was the history/tradition woven into it (such as the...

Kenzer & Co Dragon Ad - A RANT

This tone of this thread REALLY shocked me, and not in a good way.

    Sovereign Press to produce Dragonlance

Woohoo! I'll definitely buy it. Dragonlance was my first "real" campaign setting, and even though I haven't played it in over a decade, I would buy it for old times sakes at least. I read in an interview that Weis and Hickman plan on trying to un-!@#$ everything that TSR did in terms of the...

    Reasons for WOTC's layoffs

Hasbro Reports Full-year and Fourth Quarter 2001 Earnings "For the year, net revenues worldwide were $2.9 billion compared to $3.8 billion in 2000. Reductions in revenue from POKEMON, Furby and the sale of Hasbro Interactive were $1.1 billion for the year. Excluding these three product lines...

EQ RPG: It's Your World Now...

I'm not sure that's true for everyone. I left EQ about year ago after being frustrated by the higher level grind (level 30+ on TP, MT and SZ), and I'm actually really interested in this. As I said in my first post, there are quite a few things that could make the EQ setting unique: 1. Evil...

EQ RPG: It's Your World Now...

It might actually be a good setting... One thing that I really liked about EQ is that the evil races actually had cities/territories that they reigned supreme in (ie they weren't all hidden in mountain hide-aways, inpenetable swamps, etc...and occassionally they come out of hiding places to...

    Miniatures Paints and Brushes?

Pine Sol On the GW boards some people were suggesting Pine Sol, but I believe they were soaking them for 36 hours or so. They even claimed that it didn't hurt the plastic Citadel minis.

[OT] Am I the only one who is getting excited for Star Wars - Attack of the Clones

I agree completely. Personally, I never undestood the hype in the first place. They're fun movies, and interesting from a world building perspective, but the acting and dialogue was nothing to get excited over, even in the first 3 movies. I'll see the newest release to, but mostly because I...

What is your martial weapon of choice?

Warhammer Warhammer. I've been waiting a LONG time for this thing to do respectable damage.
