D&D 5E (2014) D&D needs to let go of the 'all classes are equal' concept

All the rules are combat-focused because you don't need rules for the rest of it. That incorrectly gives the impression that it is a combat-focused game. That most players are min/maxing murder hobos dosesn't help. That said, D&D also seems to downplay the rest by oversimplifying and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Capping Hit Points

In other games that track HP by body part, sure. But since HP is so abstract in D&D, I don't go for called shots either. Stuff like, I target his hand so he drops his weapon but doing no damage, maybe depending on context. But target his head to get an insta-kill shot, no.

D&D 5E (2014) Weirdest House Rules You've Encountered in the Wild

I'm not sure how weird it is, but restricting wizards to spells they find in-game rather than full automatic access to anything in the rulebooks is one I've seen used and often use myself.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bad Sage Advice?

I won't be accepting that SA advice either. I'm saying if it had been that way all along, it would have been fine. Changing it now after all these years is absurd. It clearly was never the design intent.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bad Sage Advice?

If simply holding a magic shield was enough to benefit from it's magic, that would be fine. The problem is that nobody has ever seriously considered it to work that way in the 40+ years of D&D until now. I think one of the biggest problems with WOTC, especially lately, is their complete...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell my Party on a Cleric

Have an NPC cleric accompany the party for a short time. Let them witness how awesome a cleric is.

    D&D 5E (2014) Interrupting rests

Switch to a short rest being a "good night of sleep" instead of a specific number of hours. And switch long rest to being 5 downtime days. Problem solved.

    D&D 5E (2014) Capping Hit Points

Somewhere along the way Hit Points stopped meaning Hit Points. Regardless, in 5e those Points are severely bloated.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bad Sage Advice?

I disagree with many design choices in 5e, and I think a lot of stuff said in Sage Advice is dumb. But I don't get the issue with Barkskin. That one is simple and clear. And the Sage Advice reiterates how simple and clear it is. Calculate your AC. Is it less than 16? Then it's 16.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bad Sage Advice?

We've grown so accustomed to having to house rule D&D that we forget we shouldn't have to.

Rogues can sneak attack basically every turn.

D&D General Naming the Barbarian? [added battlerager]

And conqueror, and king. Conan has been many things.

D&D General Naming the Barbarian? [added battlerager]

Barbarian should be a background, not a class. Conan was a fighter/rogue.

D&D General Naming the Barbarian? [added battlerager]

WOTC should eliminate the class to be PC. Kobolds can't even be physically weak anymore. Ban the barbarian!

    D&D 5E (2014) Bad Sage Advice?

I drop my shield, cast fireball, then pick up the magic shield. Stupid. So, so stupid.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bad Sage Advice?

Why? Not every edition of D&D has even had them.

In my world there are no hand crossbows. Because they're stupid.

If I were going to solo, I'd be a cleric. They're all around good and don't need any help.
