I tend to think of a spread more like water flowing. Its going to get around corners etc. Also, you can assume that spell has somewhere from 6-2 or 3 seconds to spread in, very reasnoble for only 30 feet.

It would be way too powerful for a one level dip. You get reduce metamagic by one, a bonus feat, and an increase in caster levels. You would want to spread out the abilities over a few levels to not front load it so much.

The range is so short on Wall of Force you would have to be virtually standing on the beasts nose to put it in a lethal area so that it could plow into it. Otherwise it would just sort of deflect off of the wall.
