    Encounter Level Difficulty

The Golem will be rampaging through a small city, so if they dont intervene in some way it will kill lots of people, destroy much of the town and eventually kill several NPC friends who would die to defend the city. So basicly they are in a slight time crunch to kill it and are rather motivated...

    Encounter Level Difficulty

Im trying to design an adventure for my players and I'm trying to figure out the hardest thing they could fight at their level. They are a balanced party of 11th lvl characters, and will be fighting a CR 13 Advanced Huge Clay Golem. They will have almost no preperation time. Do you think this is...

    Heart Attack

    Encounter Difficulty

Yes they will know that they are medusa there so they will be appropratly prepared. I am most likely going to set party level at 11. On second glance, it seems just a tad easy. The encounter is an attack on what they think is the main evil guys, but really isnt, so i want them to be confident in...

    Encounter Difficulty

So, I'm a rather new DM with only 5-6 sessions under my belt, but everyone who has played with me says I am an excelent, though very lethal DM. I am making up a new adventure and trying my hardest to make sure that it is not too deadly, in an attempt to improve my skills. The scenario is as...

    Let's talk about Prismatic Spray

but 3 out of 7 of those choices can be instant death. I dont like those odds!

Need to negate Force-type damage & Disintegrate.

Well, you can become immune to transmutation (spells like polymorph and disentegration) by taking the "Entropist" prestige class from Lords of Darkness FR book. Their first level ability "Sanctity of Body" protects them from anything that would alter their body in some way, even a sphere of...

Looking for a good Monk build

You can go Paladin 4 / Sacred Fist X, which in my opinion makes a great monk substitute. 30 Point buy build Str: 14 Dex: 14 Con: 14 Int: 10 Wis: 14 Chr: 12 Or you could go Ranger, but I think Paladin gets more out of the build.

    talkin' all medieval-like

I had always been told it came from Logic in the 1800's. Since when you create a logic table, you assign the values starting with P and Q. You had to be careful that you wrote them correctly or your whole table would be messed up. On a side note, I had an English History teacher who could...

    Wall of..spells

Wall of Ice is definatly my favorite wall spell because it does damage if someone breaks it and tries to go through, with no save :) Also, it can be used to bridge chasm's, make ramps, walls etc etc. It is by far the most versatile, though not toughest of the wall spells.

What are the main knowledge centers of the FR

Also, Elminster lives in Shadowdale and he is considered the greatest sage in the lands. I believe Storm Silverhand also lives there, and she is a bard of quite some power; besides both of them are chosen of Mystra.

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

If a witch wants to fly all night, she should cast Overland Flight. 5th lvl spell, 1/hour a level. Just thought I'd point that out...

What are the unique monsters of D&D?

You might be thinking Beholders are from Chineese myth because there is a little beholder sort of creature in the movie "Big Trouble in Little China". It was very different in that it doesnt fight, is basketball sized, and only allows its master too see through its many eyes. Given how much Big...

Magic Item Pricing - Demon Armor

Well, this isnt really helping but there are two claws, each being +1 I would imagine with the contagion ability. As for why it is so cheap, no clue... maybe because it makes you look like a demon? Then again there should be some down side to it like -4 charisma etc...

Divine Sacrifice is it balanced? (DotF)

It's not as bad as it looks. Even if you did the maximum of 5d6 damage, that averages out to 17.5 extra damage, while taking 10 damage, and there is still the chance that you can do less than 10 damage! It makes for a cool final strike kind of move in desperation, or maybe combined with a smite...

    Rgr/Rog Trap disabling

If I took simply one level of rogue, and all the rest of my levels as Ranger, could I still disable traps just as well as a rogue? With one level of Rogue you get Trapfinding, which is really just based on the skill check not some Rogue level check. This seems a little exploitable too me. With...

Neat Historical Artifacts for a game

A few that pop to Mind Ark of the Covenant - doesnt have just the tablets of Moses Law in them, also has Aarons Rod that budded flowers and alhmonds (i think) to prove that he was gods chosen ruler, and the Golden pot of manna which allowed a tribe of people to survive in the desert for 40 years...
