D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

Thanks for the assist! Good stuff. Covers alot of my questions. The doppelganger and aboleth are especially interesting as is the tie with Umberlee worshippers. Why wouldn't at least some of that be in Princes of the Apocalypse? It seems like these guys, water cult, harpers...throw together...

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

Another thing that doesn't quite track. Chapter 6 has a side trek with agents of the Yartar thief guild the Hand running afoul of the Kraken Society which is a secret network that somehow has a Sahuagin working for it. Wouldn't some detail on who the Kraken Society is and what they are doing...

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apocalypse as source material

I like the adventure. I'm running it right now for my Monday D&D group. Despite that, I wouldn't recommend it be picked up to loot for ideas, etc. If you're not running the campaign, there's not enough reusable stuff or additional material to justify purchasing it to loot for ideas.

Second Trailer for "The Force Awakens"

I was curious why Luke says "my father has it", present tense instead of "..had it" past tense.

WotC's Nathan Stewart: "Story, Story, Story"; and IS D&D a Tabletop Game?

That's a good point Grimstaff. It's anecdotal but in my local area (Nashville), forum involvement, etc. is very common amongst Dungeon Masters and pretty common amongst regular players, just not so much amongst the casual crowd.

WotC's Nathan Stewart: "Story, Story, Story"; and IS D&D a Tabletop Game?

You know....There's no call for that. That's just bad form. DefCon please don't belittle other people's opinions like that. Makes you look like a troll.

WotC's Nathan Stewart: "Story, Story, Story"; and IS D&D a Tabletop Game?

One of the major problems with having stuff connected to 1-2 stories or even themes is that if you aren't interested in using/running those, WOTC isn't offering you anything. And another concern. Why were both APs so far both set in the Sword Coast? Was it only so they could tie in to...

    Halfling/Hobbit Sourcebooks and Adventures

Whizbang Dustyboots added some good suggestions. I looked up his Dragon magazine article suggestion. The Halfling point of View article is indeed in Bast of Dragon Vol 3.

    Halfling/Hobbit Sourcebooks and Adventures

Glad someone is doing something with halflings/hobbits! You rock! :) Your list is pretty good so far. Also for 3.5 D&D you can look at Races of the Wild. Back when ICE had the MERP license they had a sourcebook called appropriately, the Shire. Try to find that online. You also might...

Jeremy Crawford On The Dark Side of Developing 5E

If this is the new model, adventure path with a modicum of setting information...why did they do the Sundering? Why announce that big changes were occuring and the Realms were going to be fixed if they fans weren't ever going to see that? Was all that just hype to sell those 6 novels and the...

Jeremy Crawford On The Dark Side of Developing 5E

I'm confused...if they aren't going into backstory/lore and they aren't telling new narrative....what are they doing with a setting then? Not trying to be diffilcult...I don't get it.

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apocalypse reviews?

Cool! Look forward to it Merric. I like the adventure...I'm just curious what others think as I'm kinda struggling with how much I have to add to get the thing ready to run. I'm having to chnage/add a TON.

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apocalypse reviews?

Has anyone happened across any new Princes of the Apocalypse reviews since the adventure released? The more journalisitc and thorough of a review the better too. All I have been able to find online have been reviews posted before the release. Nothing since then. Thanks, HobbitFan aka Monty

    D&D 5E (2014) Things I like and dislike about 5e...

I love the 5E game and the core books. WOTC's nebulous plan for supporting the game and their lack of communication both confuses and frustrates me.

Jeremy Crawford On The Dark Side of Developing 5E

While the old Greyhawk material is available, older sourcebooks are not always the easiest to parse through for material. Especially for new people who aren't familiar with the setting and don't know what to look for and where. That's where new setting sourcebooks (or whatever) would be...

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

Another thing that doesn't quite make sense. Factions in Princes of the Apocalypse. The adventure seems to assume their presence, it even tells you who the organizations are in the beginning but then, aside from side treks..its really doesn't do anything with the factions. They are important...

[April 2015] What are you reading?

Right now, I'm reading everything I can to get ideas to flesh out my Princes of the Apocalypse campaign. I don't have tons of time outside work but I do what I can.
