Jeremy Crawford On The Dark Side of Developing 5E

They could be supporting the game in several ways via their web site and online content and they choose not to. That kind of support has nothing to do with hardbacks and the like. Once they decided to do hardbacks and adventures, it's not a given that the form they are in now is...

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

You raise some good points MonsterEnvy. I'll consider your points. I may run into structural problems if I move things around. The fact remains that if I have several back and forth trips to complete each 4th of the megagdungeon and then doing that again 4 times....my players will rebel. Even...

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

Some other little tidbits I changed/added: 1. I made Constable Harburk a veteran who fought recently against the Cult of the Dragon (assumed to be in Tyranny of Dragons). 2. Larrakh, the disgraced Earth cult priest in the Tomb of Moving Stones (Chapter 6) wears a "phantom of the Opera" style...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e is fantastic. Just a topic of appreciation and some forum analysis.

That's a good point Umbran. I wish that rather than give up and limit communication they had decided to try harder. I've tried on twitter to engage them and get answers/clarification. They'll answer rules questions and make jokes but they won't talk about much else.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e is fantastic. Just a topic of appreciation and some forum analysis.

They managed good communication with the fans during playest period. I would be careful of blaming poor communications and its results on the fans. A big chunk of WOTC's woes, especially in 4E period were self-inflicted wounds.

FANTASY GROUNDS Virtual Tabletop's D&D License!

Well this looks interesting but the price is going to be a barrier for my gaming group.

Chris Perkins: Reintroducing Settings in Ways that Surprise People

I can't speak for anyone else in saying this but I can clarify things vis-a-vis me. Why discuss further? Because you have fundamentally misunderstood me, sir that's why. I don't have a goal to achieve, at least not one I'm consciously aware of. I've merely been joining in conversationsI...

Chris Perkins: Reintroducing Settings in Ways that Surprise People

DefCon1 you are making quite a few assumptions about other board members and their reasons for posting in your post. You make it sound like you think complaining is more important to people than playing the game. I find that more than a little offensive. You don't know me nor how much I...

Chris Perkins: Reintroducing Settings in Ways that Surprise People

Entsuropi and DefCon1 have a valid point about WOTC's probable strategy. The thing is, right now they haven't open the D&D brand into products other editions haven't already done, some very recently. the offerings so far (miniatures, boardgames, computer games, etc) are all pretty safe items...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me to keep reading Princes of the Apocalypse (*significant* spoilers. Also my players keep out)

Brehobit, I'd advise reading all the way through the adventure and then trying to think of things with both your DM and Players hats on, so to speak. I think there's a lot to like in this adventure BUT it's largely a sandbox and so requires alot of DM work to run smoothly. Here's some stuff...

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apocalypse Hits the Shelves!

I'm hoping that as more people pick it up this next week that more people will join the PoTA threads and discussion will take off.

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

I don't mean to imply that I want my players to fight the Elder Elemental Eye like a video game boss or soemthing. That's not what I'm saying. I realize the Elder Elemental Eye is what had spoken to the Prophets and driven them to do what they do BUT we don't know what the identity or...

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

Research update: I found a good post about the history of elemental Evil in D&D. I'll include the link below for people like me frustrated with the lack of material on this in the PoTA hardback. http://thecampaign20xx.blogspot.com/2015/01/dungeons-dragons-history-of-elemental.html

D&D 5E (2014) Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

So I'm trying to get the new book ready to run. I like it but I'm finding there's a whole lot I have to fix. One of the problems is how vague, undefined and unimportant the Elder Elemental eye is to the whole thing. My question is this: Is there anything in the original Temple of Elemental...
