D&D 5E (2014) Leveling the Pet Baby Dragon?

Personally, I would handle growth through role-playing. If the players are worried about the Dragon dying, why are they dragging her around into dangerous situations? Not very responsible parenting, if you ask me. When my players discovered a Wyrmling White Dragon, I used the stats for the...

The Noble is 5E's Warlord - A Preview Of A TOUCH OF CLASS

This has to be an April Fool's joke, right? Starting with a martial weapon and scale armor but having proficiency in neither? A once-per-long-rest Cure Light Wounds? Is this intended to be a "Prestige Class"? I'm so confused.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E classes that discourage "dipping"

As I see it: * Two levels of any class is great to add options to a character. * Two levels of warlock seems to help every class.

    D&D 5E (2014) Has anyone played a cleric/wizard or similar multiclass?

I've played a Tempest Cleric 2/Diviner Wizard 2 and, for me, the value of having a larger prepared spell selection far outweighed the slower spell progression. The character will likely never see high-level play, so I made him as "front-loaded" as I could. Wood Elf Bard/Druid (like a...

    Woe is me: Character choices

Monks are primarily Controllers despite they seem to LOOK like Strikers. Desert Wind powers certainly add some delicious Cha damage. ... but if you went Fighter and M/C monk, you can do some pretty gross damage.

D&D 5E (2014) Share Your Meanest, Most Dastardly Trap

I also used a Reverse Gravity effect that throws a PC up a hundred foot chute onto some spikes. The spikes then retract, ending the Reverse Gravity effect and opening a hundred foot pit with spikes below him. The hapless PC then falls 200 feet onto some more spikes, wherein the lower spikes...

D&D 5E (2014) How many rounds of combat is too much?

Three. Usually anything after three rounds, your dice are cold and you're whiffing all the time and you're frustrated. It's not fun.

    D&D 5E (2014) Evil Campaign?

At its core, an Evil campaign isn't much different from a Good one. The PC's have goals, they want to achieve these goals, and they're willing to do things in order to succeed. In the Evil game's case, the players aren't as worried about the methods by which they achieve their goals. What...

D&D 5E (2014) Need help with fantasy characters in sci fi setting

+1 for referencing Stargate. It's a concept I've been wanting to run for some time. I'd suggest seeking out the SRD for d20 Modern's supplements (d20 Modern, Urban Arcana and d20 Future). They wouldn't be too hard to seek out and most of the crunch can be best-guessed (reskinning...

D&D 5E (2014) Favoured Soul: Do you want Wings or Divine Purity?

Wizards can Fly at 5th. Some races can fly at level 1. 14th isn't so bad. Wings. All day. Erry day.

D&D 5E (2014) Party composition post your suggestion

Paladin, Bard and Druid is team "We Win D&D"; any classes added to this is candy. For my vote, I submit Mastermind Rogue. Using a Cunning action to grand Advantage to anyone within range is fantastic. Has the option to melee or range for damage. If the party doesn't want to focus on healing...

D&D 5E (2014) Short, Funny Bard Songs Please

The video game "South Park: The Stick of Truth" features Jimmy as a Bard. He sings the following as one of his special attacks. (Note: It's kinda lewd, so I spoiler-blocked it.) "There once was a maiden from Stonebury Hollow. She didn't talk much but boy did she swallow. I have a nice lance...

Help me build Urban Fantasy NYC

I hope the Ghostbusters feature prominently as the go-to "experts" on the paranormal. Maybe they've franchised out to other scientists...?

    D&D 5E (2014) I want to make a Slime Farmer. Discuss.

Well, remember, in this example I'm an Underdark Druid. My 'grove' is in a cave somewhere, likely dark and spooky with some magical or other significance. Like, say, for growing specific molds :3 But yeah, this Druid isn't Good, but wouldn't have to be Evil... strong leaning though, given he...

    D&D 5E (2014) I want to make a Slime Farmer. Discuss.

How does one even cultivate a jelly, or ooze... like, what if he could have a Gelatinous Cube as an "animal companion" and regularly, what, hack off a piece to make more...?

    D&D 5E (2014) Channel Nature Druid

NPCs don't need to follow the character creation rules of PCs when determining ability etc. Build them as a monster, handpick some abilities and enjoy. Also note, you can be a Nature Cleric instead of a Druid - most of the flavour and Channel Divinity comes with.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Wizards & Warlocks -- Hexblades, Raven Queens, and Lore Mastery!

I have a few nits to pick, but I'm super-late to the game, so bear with. Hexblade. All the yes. My issue is with the limited invocations that are strapped to specific patrons. Wipe those off and you're gold. Also, why give a Hexblade a Greatsword as an option (Curse Blade) if he can't use...

    Where do oil come from?

Oil comes from the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Oil, of course. It's also the origin of the Alchemy Jug. See, this one wizard, he LOVED salads but could never decide how to garnish them... :o

    D&D 5E (2014) I want to make a Slime Farmer. Discuss.

I have fond memories of the Oozemaster prestige class from 3x, despite never having played one. With the return of the Underdark-themed Druid, I want to make a character who cultivates slimes, molds and fungi (obvious Ghostbusters reference is obvious, but not the intent). With the usual...
