To the OP: The 1,000's of Fanfics about WOW and the 1000's of fan art about WOW would be evidence against your point that it supresses imaginations. You can also add to that the 1000's of forum threads discussin WOW Lore or even RPG threads. Actually WOW delivers the fantasy genere to people...

To the OP: Can you post the actual encounter in question? ( The one that needed 7-10 rounds to mop up). What where the player classes and levels? What was the opposition? NOTE: Remember that some monsters had been errataed, because their damage output was below average.

Well between the 'Dwarven Exploding hearts' and 'Cadfan's assaulting squirrels', this thread has achieved a minimal level of worthiness. I predict that by this time friday, we should be able to actually make a full blown adventure from tidbits from this thread. :)

I went in the other direction, I banned sunrods in my game. Why? They seemed cheezy and out of place. And having a smaller light radius is very good to set the tension in a dungeon crawl.
