ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Understood. And like I mentioned I still shop and buy things at my local FLGS but not as much as I have in the past. But as I mentioned too my FLGS sells over MSRP and the price difference is more than 30% most of the time.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Yes. If and when my local hobby store goes out of business it is my fault. I will keep that in mind. Hyperbole aside I still buy from them. Not as much as I did before though. In your righteousness you may not have noticed that they actually charge above MSRP. Yup $65 for any WoTC book not...

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Well my local hobby shop now charges $65 for D&D books. So it isn’t really WoTC killing them as much as their own pricing plus Amazon and online places like Miniature Market, Game Nerdz etc who not only sell the books much cheaper but the miniatures too. Plus a lot of small publishers like KP...

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Yup. Me too. Love 5E. I played every edition of D&D except 3.0 and many other games such as Rifts, GURPS, TMNT, 7th Seas just to name a couple and I think 5E hits the sweet spot for me and my groups.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

What I hear is they see the game differently because they dislike WoTC. If I projected my personal feelings on every business I would have no place to eat or shop. WoTC is far from perfect and they definitely have made their fair share of mistakes but they are not monsters either and many of...

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

For sure. Truth is I have bought less from my local hobby store as their prices have sky rocketed and more from Amazon and places like Miniature Market and Game Nerdz that offer significant discounts. Not to mention backing things in Kickstarter.

ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Sounds pretty personal to you. I am almost 50 and still playing 5E so not all older players are switching.

D&D General Caverns of Thracia OAR 9 from Goodman Games leaked on Amazon? DCC too?

Wish they would do a full treatment of Lankhmar for 5E as an OAR.

D&D General Converse Releasing Limited Edition Dungeons & Dragons Sneakers

I don’t see the big deal. If it supports growth of the game or just revenue growth so the game can continue to grow who cares.

D&D General Converse Releasing Limited Edition Dungeons & Dragons Sneakers

Agreed. They were always terrible shoes with no support. There is a reason no actual basketball player wears them. They would have shin splints in a couple days if they didn’t brake their ankle first.

Spoilers So, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire? [spoiler thread]

I went with 4 other people. Three adults and two teens. Four of us thought it was bad and one average. One person fell asleep. All five of us universally agreed the cast was lackluster. For a ‘live action’ movie there wasn’t a lot of action.

Spoilers So, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire? [spoiler thread]

Agree with Morrus. Saw it last night and it was bad. Acting was terrible. Paul Rudd was painfully flat. It was just kind of dull and completely missed the spark of the original movie. To be honest the cast in general was not good.

D&D 5E (2024) Deborah Ann Woll and Matt Mercer consulted on the 2024 DMG.

I can only assume you are being snarky. I was 12 when I started playing 1E many decades ago and neither me nor any of my friends had any trouble understanding the rules or how to play. I am not saying that Gygax was a great writer but it was straight forward enough to me and many other kids.

D&D 5E (2024) Deborah Ann Woll and Matt Mercer consulted on the 2024 DMG.

Weird take. Many companies use outside consultants. Seems smart to me. Why not have an outside perspective to enrich what you are producing. Often at work I have someone I respect take a look at what I am doing. Makes me and that product better.

Looks interesting. Is it possible to get just the setting book?

Tomb of Gyzaengaxx from Luke Gygax

Yes I like it when KS show a chart with what is included at each level. More clean and clear.

Tomb of Gyzaengaxx from Luke Gygax

Agreed. I have some interest but the presentation is confusing and I really cannot tell what is included in any of the reward levels but especially those two print levels. Also they could improve the KS page and include more about what the adventure and setting are like. Feels like a bunch of...

WotC Vecna Eve of Ruin: Everything You Need To Know

Yeah but you don’t have to use lore if you don’t want it. So how would it harm you if there was more. Just ignore it. That’s the thing. I would like more lore. Not because I use it all, or even most of it, but it helps me develope ideas. I can build and customize lore.
